About this product
Jason Horowitz is an up and coming singer-songwriter from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jason got his start in public performance during his years at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. He started playing open mics and house concerts and opened for New England folk scene regulars like Bernice Lewis and Bill Staines. After graduating, he moved back to the Midwest, playing the coffee shop scene in Madison and Milwaukee for two years before moving to Nashville, Tennessee. He played regularly in Nashville for five years at venues such as the legendary Bluebird Cafe, and he has opened for Mindy Smith, Jon McVey, and others. He now lives and performs in St. Paul, Minnesota. Jason traces his desire to write and sing from his summer camp experience at Camp Minikani in Hubertus, WI. 'I used to watch my counselors sing and play at campfires,' he says, 'and I swore one day I would be like them.' He taught himself to play the guitar as a teenager and began writing songs immediately. Jason's guitar style is influenced by artists such as Ellis Paul and Martin Sexton, and he commonly uses alternate tunings. Jason's songs are acoustic and lyric-driven. His songs are often personal and revealing and have been described as 'powerful and heartfelt.' When asked about his confessional writing, he said, 'I've always believed that we have more in common than we think we do. If I write about things that are important to me, I think the chances are good that other people will relate.' Jason's new album, Every Single Thing, marks a move from a contemporary folk style to folk rock. There are remnants of the campfire-like solo acoustic performances that Jason been known for in the past, but the infusion of energy from the full band parallels the change in Jason's music in moving from the Madison coffee shop scene to the Nashville bar scene. 2020 . Truth or Consequences, Yumi Zouma's third album was produced by the band and mixed by engineer Jake Aron (Solange, Grizzly Bear, Snail Mail). Christie Simpson's voice gives weight to whispers of impressionistic poetry, shielding hard truths with soft tones, while Burgess' vocals reveal a rarified dimension of raw and lucid romanticism, with lead single InchRight Track / Wrong Man,Inch in particular, exhibiting a Balearic tempo and bass-heavy energy that belies it's underlying tension. The first Yumi Zouma album to feature live drums, Truth or Consequences radiates a brazen spirit of perseverance. InchI love the duality in a lot of disco songs, where they're incredibly upbeat, but there's real frustration in the lyrics - sort of like, 'Nothing's going the way I want, but I've got to deal with it any way I can,'Inch Simpson says. Album Tracks 1. Lonely After 2. Right Track / Wrong Man 3. Southwark 4. Sage 5. Mirror to the Fire 6. Cool for a Second 7. Truer Than Ever 8. My Palms Are Your Reference to Hold to Your Heart 9. Magazine Bay 10. Lie Like You Want Me Back

Shards is a oneness of performance and transformation, transformation as performance. As Jason Moran and Marcus Gilmore play, BlankFor. Ms records micro fragments of time and sends them back to his collaborators sped up, slowed down, reversed, broken into ever tinier grains of data and smeared into a sparkling blur. Moran and Gilmore receive glimpses into their immediate past, or even further back in time, like they're playing into a broken mirror - not just cracked in it's visual plane, but in the sense of it's shards shattering time and light, showing them past and future. Album Tracks 1. Shard I 2. Tape Loop a Echo 3. Shard II 4. Shard III 5. Barbershop 6. And the Pieces Are Falling 7. Shard IV 8. Shard V
