This 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital edition of Jurassic Park (with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos) is a clear step up from the 2018 release and the best home-video presentation of the film currently available. The picture benefits from refined color grading that reduces the previous magenta/pink push on skin tones and delivers a more natural, balanced look. Dolby Vision improves dynamic range—nighttime and storm sequences gain better shadow detail and more natural highlights without looking artificially punched up. Fine textures (foliage, clothing, vehicle surfaces) resolve more cleanly than before, and overall encoding is tighter. That said, enthusiasts should temper expectations. Universal did not perform a new 4K scan of the original camera negative; this is still based on the older scans from around the 2013 3D conversion era. Residual digital noise reduction remains in places (though less aggressive than the 2018 disc), leading to occasional softness or a slightly smoothed appearance. The early-’90s CGI, especially longer shots of the dinosaurs, continues to show its age with limited resolution and some softness or aliasing. Grain is present and generally film-like, but it can look inconsistent shot-to-shot. The new Dolby Atmos mix is a welcome upgrade over the prior DTS:X track. Height channels add atmosphere (rain, jungle ambience, T. rex presence), directional effects are more precise, and the overall soundscape feels larger and more immersive while keeping dialogue clear and the classic John Williams score well-supported. Bass remains powerful without overwhelming. Discs played cleanly with no technical issues. Packaging is standard and functional. For fans who want the strongest current version—with improved grading, Dolby Vision, and a more engaging Atmos track—this is the one to own. Purists hoping for a fully modern, from-negative restoration will still be waiting. I recommend it as the best available edition today, with the understanding that a true definitive transfer may still come later.
