After three weeks - I give the KitchenAid 424 dishwasher an enthusiastic rave! It's a marked improvment over my 11 year old plastic tub Whirlpool on every level. I love the larger capacity with 3 flexible racks. I can fit more dishes - and wash fewer times each week. It's also much quieter than my old unit. Standing 10 feet away, it's hard to tell its running! The dishes and silverware come out cleaner - and the feature that pops the door open as drying cycle ends is a definite plus. I also like the sturdiness of everything - from the racks to the roller wheels. I looked at Bosch and KitchenAid. The KitchenAid felt sturdier - and it's racks are more flexible to fit different dish sizes than the Bosch. Highly recommend!

Overall this is a great dishwasher. Cleans well and actually dries dishes when cleaning cycle is over. The door pops open, venting steam and excess moisture. My only minor comment is the "clean" LED should be green. All the other LEDs are already white. The silverware tray alternating large and small holes. My silverware has wide handles and only so I have to be a little more mindful when loading. Like I said - minor. I have the front control built into the handle. I like that too. Easy to access and read status.

This dishwasher is a great upgrade. It replaces an older KitchenAid that reached its useful life. We really like the how clean the dishes come out, quietness of the dishwasher, the updated 3-level layout, the easy-to-use controls, and the self-opening feature at the end of the drying cycle. Great buy and value.
