About this product
The protagonist of these recordings owed his posthumous fame to an error. The Jena Symphony, discovered in the city's university library in 1909, was thoroughly studied, discussed, and even recorded as a supposed early work by Beethoven. However, since 1968 it has been established that the composition is by no means the titan's InchzeroInch symphony, but rather the 14th of 23 symphonies that Friedrich Witt wrote in Niederstetten, Baden-Württemberg, many of which were also published.A full five weeks older than his colleague from Bonn, whom he outlived by nine years, he had been court conductor in Würzburg since 1802, where his symphonic output took an astonishing turn and was apparently renumbered. The three symphonies recorded here, Nos. 1 to 3, were written a few years earlier than their much-praised cousin, but consistently display uncompromising quality. Album Tracks 1. Symphony No. 1 in B-Flat Major 2. Symphony No. 2 in D Major 3. Symphony No. 3 in F Major

During his lifetime Carl Stamitz, the firstborn son of Johann Stamitz, the famous founder of the Mannheim School, became a violin and viola virtuoso and successful composer. In our Carl Stamitz Edition we are now releasing four more symphonies that were regarded as a practically ideal embodiment of sensibility because his Inchheart full of feeling left it's imprint on his music.Inch Stamitz's desire to discover and explore new paths in the composition of symphonies took him to the programmatic pastoral symphony InchLe jour variableInch (La promenade royale) designed in Versailles in the fall of 1772. What Stamitz presents to the ears in the way of previously Inchunheard-ofInch music would completely outshine even the programmatic pieces produced at the end of the nineteenth century. Many experts, including Hugo Riemann, were very much aware of the fact that this program symphony is a particularly interesting and remarkable composition. Album Tracks 1. Symphony Op. 15/Iii in D minor 2. Symphony Op. 2/Iii in G Major 3. Symphony Op. 6/Ii in E Flat Major 4. Le Jour Variable (La Promenade Royale) Grand Pastoral Symphony in G [D]

According to the thoroughly credible words of his contemporaries, Johannes Bernardus van Bree, the long-time musical director of the Felix Meritis Society of Amsterdam, was not only an extremely talented violinist and composer. He was also, to the delight of those around him, a very pleasant, flexible character who strove all his life to please others. This made him shy away from tormenting the conservative capital of the Netherlands with avant-garde provocations. However, it did not stop him from skilfully and sensitively composing unusually appealing works in the conventional vocabulary of the early Romantic years. His highly dramatic overture in the InchunfinishedInch key of B Minor and his original Symphonic Fantasy, which is a mere stone's throw away from Robert Schumann, are particularly surprising. Album Tracks 1. Overture in B minor 2. Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D minor 3. Fantasy in Form of a Symphony 4. Overture in E Flat Major
