Q: i dont understand why the manufacture is avoiding the answer... are they politicians?? based on the number of slots used, how many are available/not used for the customer to use for future upgrades without replacing any of the components????

A: I agree -- the Lenovo product expert is not useful Inside the case there is space for 2-3.5" drives, 3 SATA ports, 2-4pin SATA power ports. Mine included an extra SATA cable and 380Mm Sata Power Cable to power a single SATA device. In order to power another SATA component, I would have to purchase another SATA power cable and SATA data cable that are not included. The SATA power cable is not from the PSU but rather from the motherboard (a special Lenovo 4-pin connector). I installed a 2.5" SATA SSD 2TB in the 3.5" bay using a converter/mount and it works splendidly with no configuration issues. I have no reason to believe more than 2TB is an issue. Windows recognizes the drive and you can format it as GPT to support very large drives. I don't know if YMMV on this depending on what parts Lenovo places in your desktop, but everything works splendidly for me and I highly recommend this desktop!

Q: Please forgive my ignorance - I'm not as tech-savvy as most of you; but since this computer does not come with a DVD drive, is it possible to use an external DVD drive to upload software and to watch DVDs? Thanks in advance for your help!

Q: Does a 500 watt meet the requirements for this system?

A: yes and no..... yes for the stock system but no if you add large hard drives to the system over 2 tb....it has sata slots for 3 hard drives and one NVMe....The Lenovo product info detailed that only two 2 terabyte drives can be installed and 1 TB NVMe.....which leads to the conclusion the the power supply with not meet the requirements for large internal drives... Also only one power supply is available , so another power supply cable with have to be purchased for a second drive, this computer uses a 12 volts power supply, with is a 10 pin motherboard connector unlike the 24 from conventional motherboards , the voltage regulator is built in to the mother board not the power supply..... the the extra power supply cable with need to be plugged into the motherboard and then the drive. Moreover, Sata data cable will also be needed for a second drive...... But large capacity external USb drives can be used since they have their own power supplies that is plugged into a wall outlet.....

Q: I was dismayed to find no USB 3.0 ports on the back of the computer. Is there an extra USB 3.0 header on the motherboard that I could use to add extra USB 3.0 ports in one of the unused slots?

A: I purchased a pci-e 1x card from the jungle. It was self powered and didnt require power input from the power supply. Was worried about it blocking half of the fan for the video card but has worked flawlessly. Usb 2.0 on the back was a good joke

A: Yes you can. There is a slot for a HDD to mount and it comes with the power and SATA connections

Q: Can someone please describe to me how to install a 3.5” HDD? I see what I’m certain is the slot for it in the bottom right but that plastic band is in the way and I can’t get anything to move, or find guides for this model online. Also, where is the SSD?

A: You can remove the plastic insert from the cage, it might require a bit of force. Once the plastic disk tray is out, there are 4 pins on the inside that will line up with the 3.5" HDD. The same will go in placing an 2.5" SSD in a 3.5" enclosure that would fit in there as well.
