Mariion Christiian - Still Water / The Weight Of Things - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Mariion Christiian is an artist who should be very familiar to followers of Dissident Music; He's released great music as a solo artist, as his alias/duo Magnetic Ghost with Rick Tedesco, and in collaboration with tag mainstay Seth Vogt. Mariion is a special kind of artist who delivers consistently beautiful and emotive music, full of life and melody, and far off the beaten path of bog-standard club tunes- and that makes his music a perfect fit for Dissident. With The Big Feel EP, It should come as no surprise that the title is an apt one. Deep indie house and electronica vibes combine with Mariion's diverse influences from new wave to soul to carry the haunting vocals to their destination. InchThe Big FeelInch comes in like a warm summer breeze, with it's story of heartbreak and letdown, while InchLessonInch leans into a darker feeling with an appropriately deep vocal, perfect for the mood of the track. Both of these tracks are essential for summer and we hope you love them as much as we do! Stay tuned for more from Mariion Christiian and Dissident Music! Album Tracks 1. The last we heard from Marissa Nadler, she was soaring through The Path ofthe Clouds and it's companion EP, The Wrath of the Clouds. Now, on her tenthofficial full-length record, New Radiations, she returns with a raw, intimate, and breathtaking collection of eleven otherworldly songs. From the first note, Nadler's rich voice and intricate fingerpicking are frontand center. She layers Everly Brothers-style harmonies over dreamlike, lonesome soundscapes-fuzzed-out distortion, Hammond organ, and ominoussynthesizers-that elevate her warm vulnerability with texture and atmosphere. Each track unfolds like a vignette of a life lived, delivering emotionalweight that resonates with quiet intensity.Lyrically, she shape-shifts through time and space-inhabiting charactersin an airborne Cessna, a spaceship, a getaway car, and alternate dimensions. Her storytelling is cinematic in scope and deeply personal in impact and thecontrast between sweet, catchy melodies and dark, visceral lyrics runs deep.Whether singing from the first-person narrative or channeling these otherpeople, the album taps into the universality of love and loss with gravitas andempathy.Produced by Nadler herself and mixed by Randall Dunn (Earth, Sunn O)))),New Radiations features subtle arrangements from longtime collaboratorMilky Burgess-woozy slide guitar, hypnagogic synthesizers, and grittyriffs. Genre-bending yet quintessentially her own, this album freezes theworld's noise in a moment of beauty and solemnity.
