This film in a way is a guilty pleasure of mine. But it is so much fun. Despite the tight budget, director Gary Goodard managed to make something quite entertaining. You come to watch He-Man, but you stay for Skeletor. That is one of the best things about this movie; Frank Langella’s performance as the megalomaniacal arch villain, Skeletor. He owns each and every scene. Out acting the lead himself, Dolph Lundgren. The video quality is pretty solid, and the audio is decent. Sadly this is short on extras; with only a Feature Length Commentary and Trailer. If you’re a fan of Star Wars, Stargate, or even Flash Gordon, then Masters of the Universe deserves to be on your shelf. Recommended.

A good but cheesy movie. It does a good job bringing some classic characters to life.

The 1987 film Masters of the universe is in my opinion a highly underrated movie that still holds up fairly well today. Unfortunately the transfer from DVD to Blu-ray leaves alot to be desired. Visually it's a decent upgrade but it's basically just a bare bones Blu-ray. No special features except for the trailer & commentry. A classic Dolph Lundgren movie for sure but a sub par Blu-ray. Worth picking up if you don't already own the DVD.

I have been looking to add this movie to my collection for the sheer nostalgia of 1980's filmmaking. This actually wasn't as bad as many may claim! Dolph Lundgren may have been a little stiff, but overall, the movie epitomizes what the 80's were about-- fantasy, fun, and some semi-cheesy special effects and one-liners! Don't sleep on Frank Langella as "Skeletor"....this has been the best cinematic incarnation of that character to date!

This movie suffers from a lot of the tropes common to 1980s tie-in films. It was designed to sell toys, but barely resembles Mattel's iconic toy line or cartoon. It's supposed to be a sci-fi flick, but falls flat by getting too tangled up in mundane "real world" issues. It desperately wants to be a man-tastic action flick, but only does a medicore job of that thanks to the experience of Dolph Lundgren. This is not to say it's a bad movie. It's just not good. What this movie manages with flying colors (at least with time and distance from the original source material) is to be a fun-filled nostalgia romp. It's a blast to sit down and watch, and remember how FANTASTIC it was when we were younger.

The blu ray makes the original stand out and keeps the nostalgia fro those who experienced the first time. Unfortunately the special features are lacking and the acting is worse than I remembered.

Good movie for the time and what they had for props and make-up. A good adult version of the cartoon. I enjoyed it.

By far one of the greatest movies of all time. Today’s movies have no basis on what this represents.

Good movie for any child of the 80's. If you're not however, you may not find this movie to be all that great.
