About this product
Poèmes are wayfarers crossing borders between language and music. What had mostly been called Lied/Song before, has often been seen as poems in the past 200 years Richard Wagner gave his Wesendonck-Liedern the titel Five Poems for Female Voice and Piano and Francis Poulenc composed around 30 Poèmes to be sung and accompanied musically. Just as with Lied, which also exists without words (Mendelssohn-Bartholdy), a Poème does not necessarily have to be based on a text. Alexander Scriabin, for example, composed 20 Poèmes for piano solo at the beginning of the last century. Francis Poulenc, the Janus-headed French composer, is difficult to grasp - it is impossible to peg a tag on him. Yet, he has always remained stylistically faithful in his adherence to tonality, the empasis on melodic elements, the refined simplicity of texture and his effort for clarity and comprehensibilty true to his motto InchThere is also room for new music, that does not mind applying the chords of other people.Inch Album Tracks 1. A mysterious instrument, ethereal sounds, explosive music and a virtuoso player of the highest order Carolina Eyck is one of the few internationally acclaimed Theremin players. For her instrument, the Leipzig composer and pianist Christopher Tarnow composed two sonatas that he and Ms. Eyck, who enjoy a productive artistic friendship in the city of Leipzig where they both reside, recorded together for their debut CD on the Genuin tag. Carolina Eyck is the developer of a new playing technique, using a new and technically more advanced instrument that she obtained in 2006. Greater precision in playing possibilities resulting from this technical development allowed for the discovery of previously unknown realms of sound. This performance technique she introduced in her textbook, The Art of Playing the Theremin. Album Tracks 1. I. Moderato 2. II. Larghetto 3. III. Presto Giocoso 4. No. 1 5. I. Lento 6. II.
