About this product

There's no question that the 18th century was entirely focused on the vocal achievements of the great singing stars, both male and female - on both sopranos like Bordoni and Cuzzoni and on castrati like Farinelli and Carestini. They were equivalent to our superstars of today alter egos of InchtheirInch composers, with whom they had fostered a virtually symbiotic relationship. In addition to these singers' technical virtuosity-there's a reason that Baroque arias are among the most difficult in the operatic repertoire-these sometimes almost mythical figures fascinated audiences with their beauty of tone and legato lines. They were oftentimes the absolute rulers of European opera stages - audiences worshipped them as godlike figures, their fees drove many a house to financial ruin, and their vocal artistry was so spectacular that even today, long after their voices have passed, their names are still uttered with reverence and admiration The great vocal virtuosos of the Baroque period live on in the music that great composers wrote for their voices. Hasse was one of the founders of pre-classicism, which combined Neapolitan vocality with orchestral density, which undoubtedly reflects his German roots. The other German giant of opera seria was George Frideric Handel, who spent most of his life in London and adopted English nationality. Like Hasse, Handel also worked at the Hamburg Opera, where he wrote his first opera score, Almira (1705), at the age of nineteen. The recording was made with one of the world's most important baroque orchestras, the Wiener Akademie Orchester under the direction of Jeremy Joseph. Album Tracks 1. Ariodante, HWV 33-Dopo Notte, Atra E Funesta 2. Alessandro, HWV 21-Tempesta E Calma 3. Arminio-Ti Laschio in Ceppi Avvinto 4. Ariodante, HWV 33-Scherza Infida in Grembo Al Drudo 5. Tito Vespasiano-Vo Disperato a Morte 6. Cleofide-Che

Austin Walkin' Cane - Muscle Shoals - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Austin Walkin' Cane has traveled the world singing the blues with only a guitar & suitcase in hand. The singer/slide guitarist says InchB.B. King Live at the Regal was the album that led me to the blues at fourteen years old. B.B.'s voice & guitar blew my mind! Then I started digging deeper & found Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Robert Jr Lockwood. A few months later, Robert Johnson King of the Delta Blues Singers Vol. I & II fueled my obsession with slide guitar.InchAustin and Chris Allen, another Cleveland based singer-songwriter, began writing songs together as teenagers. That songwriting partnership has reaped many musical dividends, and the two team up once again for Cane's eighth blues album, Austin Walkin' Cane Muscle Shoals. The album was inspired by the legendary FAME Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Legends such as Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett & Otis Redding recorded hits in Studio A. The Allman Brothers had their first jam in Studio B. Cane says, InchI was leaving to perform at a Memphis house party when a friend mentioned that Muscle Shoals was only three hours away. I immediately booked a session at FAME.Inch Fifteen songs of Austin with his National Resonator Guitar were recorded that afternoon. The slide guitar heavy album was rounded out with the talents of legendary producer Don Dixon at SPA STUDIO. Album Tracks 1. Waiting for a Little Sunshine 2. Living, Working, Dying 3. Midnight Creep 4. Same Bad Habits 5. One Heart Walkin' 6. Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground 7. (In the Evening) When the Sun Goes Down 8. Highway 61 9. Sweet Mama Brown 10. Sun Go Down
