Dead battery after 13 months

The battery no longer holds any charge. The camera shuts downs immediately without power and does not retain settings anymore. When I start the car, the camera shows the setup screen. I have to complete setup to use the camera each time I start the car. I can't return it due to the expired warranty. It is a paperweight now. I can't say for certain that the camera was manufactured to fail after the warranty expires, but I do know that planned obsolescence is real. A device that fails one month after the warranty expires is suspicious. I contacted customer support, and I followed their instructions which confirmed it is a battery issue. However, they won't do anything because it isn't under warranty anymore. I wouldn't recommend this product even if it was still functional. This model doesn't have a mobile app. It instead has an application to install on a PC. This model also doesn't have Wi-Fi to easily access the files. You have to connect the device to a PC via USB and use the application to view the videos.

[Employee of bestbuy] This is my 3 rd Dash Cam and so far my least favorite. The front facing camera is so zoomed that it doesnt even record me. Literally only my kids face that is sitting in the back with a car seat. I tried everything to zoom out but thats just how its made i guess

I'm sorry to hear you're having this negative experience with your camera.
I'm afraid that this model in particular comes with a rear view camera, it connects directly to your Dash Cam and records the rear view of your journey, so if there's a rear impact, you'll be covered.
It uses a 30° telephoto lens to look back through the vehicle, capturing details of the road behind, making sure you are guarded against tailgaters and rear end impacts.
For a camera that records the inside of the vehicle, you'll need one that comes with a cabin camera instead.

I've got Nextbase dashcams in all my cars. This is the "cheapest" one I've bought yet. Glad to say it works as advertised. Don't forget an SD card though.
