I love this thermometer, it has made my meat come out perfect every time. It has an app with bluetooth connection that you put the holder near the thermometer and it sends me real time updates on the temperature of the meat, and the outside temp in the stove or grill. So, I can see what it is, especially with the grill it has a thermometer in the grill, but I don't trust it. This way I know for sure. It also lets me know when it gets down to the requested cook temp, it gives me an exact time, like 3 minutes to requested cook temp, and it counts it down, so if I am cooking other items I know exactly how to time my meat to come out. It gives you the time to take it out and let it rest, before cutting into the meat as well, so you don't lose all the juices and flavoring. Once your done with it, carefully pull it out and let it cool first, don't put it directly into cold water as it could damage it. After coolinjg and cleaning, you put it back in the stand and it will charge it back up, it says that it is good for 30 hours, but I never cook my meat that long, so I doubt that I will test that. And the base is magnetic, so I can hang it on my fridge and not lose it. I can also pin it onto the grill when I am cooking there. So far it has been great!

I was taught to cook by my parents, and when it comes to meat, there were two options - either grill it until it was charcoal, or in the oven it was the "insert the fork and you can tell by how it goes in/comes out". Neither of these two techniques served me well - so was excited to test the Ninja Pro Wireless Thermometer. the tldr; is this is amazing, and will have you cooking chef quality meat in no time. In the box. - Ninja ProChef Thermometer/Charging Station - AAA Battery Setup Setup is easy. You'll need a penny to unlock the secure battery compartment, insert the battery, wait and hour for the probe to charge and you're ready to pair. For pairing, you need to download the "Ninja Pro Connect" app. It's free. No registration required. Pairing is via Bluetooth, was fast and there are helpful instructional videos. There was no firmware or software update needed for my first use. Using the Ninja ProChef In use, the Ninja ProChef is FANTASTIC! When you insert the probe, all you need to do is insert to the minimum insertion point (marked on the probe itself and you will be reminded of this by the app on first use). Everything else is then controlled by the app and the Ninja Pro Connect App is perfect. I don't use that word lightly, it really is perfect. You select your protein and cut (Chicken, Beef, Turkey, Pork, even plant based meats), select the cut of meat, pick a done point, tap start and you're on your way! The Ninja Pro Connect app will let you know the cook time and alert you on your phone when you reach your desired internal temperature/doneness is met. Ninja rate the wireless distance at 165 feet. I was easily 100 feet away and there was no issue with connectivity - it seems to work by connecting to the base station/holding unit itself, which you need to keep closer to your grill/oven. And I had a big cut of meat, 5lb rack of lamb - so there was meat and bone and oven that (in theory) should have blocked signal. Either way, the ProChef is impressive, as I was skeptical thinking my oven would act like a faraday cage but I didn't lose connectivity once. There are some things I don't know yet. Mainly battery life. Ninja rate the battery at 30 hours. Based on my last cooking time, that's somewhere between 15-16 uses. I think this is more than reasonable given the sophistication of everything (Bluetooth, App Connectivity, Heat). I did discover, that the main unit DOES have a magnet. So you can stick the Ninja ProChef on your fridge when not in use. I point this out as it's not clear or obvious when you look at it. Verdict The proof is in the cooking. The rack of lamb I cooked using the Ninja ProChef was the perfect medium temperature. I am impressed, as I struggle with rack of lamb. I can't wait to use this during Thanksgiving on Turkey (another meat I normally struggle with). I really can't fault the Ninja ProChef and if you wanted to up your meat and BBQ game, this is a brilliant investment. Your tastebuds and family will thank you!

I love to grill so I am confused why I waited so long to get into smart thermometers. All those overcooked steaks and the stress of trying to time it all out based on coal burn….WELL NO MORE! Got the Ninja ProChef and was super excited to give it a try. I own a bunch of Ninja products and love almost all of them. I love them…. because they deliver quality and outstanding results and the ProChef is no different. Out of the box you will need to charge it for an hour (so plan accordingly). The charging mechanism is brilliant and could not be any easier. The base station (which also doubles as the Bluetooth booster to your phone) charges it automatically when you store it! It will be ready when you are!! The base charging station/Storage needs a double A battery which they provide. It also comes with an easy QR code for the app and I was off. The thermometer itself feels well-built. It’s easy to place into a steak and stays put when turning the steak. It synced right up to my phone and in minutes I placed the steak on the grill and the steak internal was 41 degrees and the ambient grill temp was 430 degrees. I watched as the internal temp started to creep up a degree at a time. The Ninja ProChef app calculates the cook time and makes sure to factor in the “rest” period for the steak! Nice. It started out by telling me it would be done in 16 minutes but be sure to keep an eye on it because as the grill got hotter, the cook time became shorter. I pulled off the steak and the app counted down until it told me the steak was perfectly cooked! AND IT WAS! It was so nice not to have to worry about it or keep sticking it with a dumb thermometer… such a guess in the dark really. I can’t believe I resisted this tech for so long! Just amazing and Ninja knows cooking. Overall …Ninja has a great app, top-quality design and function and OUTSTANDING results! Note: As they mention in the instruction (which I did not listen to), be sure not to touch the thermometer with your barehand…It’s hot…and it was!

I’ve been testing out the Ninja ProChef Wireless Thermometer for a few days and it’s definitely a must have tool when cooking. Whether I’m grilling outside or roasting something in the oven, this thing makes it so much easier to nail the right temperature. Indoor Cooking: I first tried it out with roasting chicken drums, and I was impressed by how easy it was to use. You just insert the probe, select the meat type on the app, and it tells you exactly when it’s done. However, the app didn’t have chicken drums as a selection so I just manual set temperature. No more guessing or cutting into the meat to check if it’s ready. I liked how it syncs with my phone so I can just keep working in the kitchen without hovering over the oven. The app gives me real-time updates, and when the chicken hit the perfect internal temp, I got an alert. The result? Juicy, perfectly cooked chicken without any guesswork. Outdoor Grilling: Now for the real test—outdoor grilling. I love grilling but always worry about overcooking steaks. The Ninja ProChef made it so much easier. I could monitor the steak from a distance, without constantly checking and guessing if its done The wireless range was decent, though if I wandered too far, the connection would sometimes get spotty. But for the most part, it was reliable, and I could keep an eye on things while hanging out with friends. The app again was super helpful, especially with different temperature presets for rare, medium-rare, etc. What I Liked: -Accuracy: The thermometer was really spot on in terms of temperature. I’ve tried other thermometers in the past that were a bit off, but this one seems really precise. -Convenience: Being able to step away and still monitor my food is a game changer, especially when grilling outdoors. -Ease of use: The app is simple, and it guides you through the whole process. You can pick the type of meat, set your desired doneness, and then just wait for the alert. What Could Be Better: -Connection range: Indoors, the connection was great, but outdoors I noticed the signal would drop if I went inside or wandered too far. I wish the range was a little better, especially for backyard grilling when you’re not always standing right by the grill. - Probe size: The probe is a little on the larger side, which is fine for bigger cuts of meat, but for small cuts its too big - more meat selection in the app but I guess you can just do manual. Overall, the Ninja ProChef Wireless Thermometer has made cooking, especially grilling, a lot more stress-free for me. It takes the guesswork out of getting the perfect doneness, and while the range could be improved for outdoor use, it’s still a solid tool for anyone who takes their cooking seriously. I’ll definitely keep using it for weekend barbecues and indoor roasting.

I’ve been thinking about getting a wireless meat thermometer recently. The one I currently use are the ones you stick in to take the temp, but you can’t leave it in the grill while it’s cooking. While the stick in one works and does the job, a wireless one is more convenient. With the Ninja ProChef, hopefully I can up my BBQ game…no more overcooked chicken or ribs! That’s the idea anyway. Setup: The Ninja ProChef thermometer setup took less than a minute. Insert the battery, download the app, connect to Bluetooth and that was pretty much it. I found the app to be very intuitive and easy to use. Simply select the type of meat you’re cooking, beef, pok, chicken etc, then select the cut of meat. From there, you need to select your doneness setting and click start. That’s all, very simple. Testing the ProChef: I tested this out with some ribeye steaks. Yes, I had to sacrifice my slightly elevated cholesterol levels for this review! I made sure I inserted the thermometer into the steaks past the line as indicated by the sticker that was on the thermometer and as shown in the app. I also had to have the case within 5 feet of the thermometer. I selected medium rare. The steaks didn’t take long to cook, about 10-12 minutes. So this is where I had some confusion. The thermometer recommended temperatures seem to be about 5-10 degrees lower than other sources. For example, ribeye at medium rare, the app recommends 130 degrees. If I were to look at the chart on my Weber grill, it suggests 145 for medium rare. When I googled it, there seems to be a fairly wide range, 130-145 degrees. So I’m not saying the ProChef is wrong, as it does fall within the range, just the lower end of the medium rare range. We found 130 degrees a bit too rare for our tastes, I had to put the steak back on the grill for a few minutes. Comparing the other meats on the Weber chart to the thermometer’s recommendation, it’s consistently 10-15 degrees lower on the thermometer, which is fine, as long as I know what tempt to look for. Alternatively, I can also use the “manual” mode, this bypasses choosing the meat you’re cooking and you just set the temp you want it to alert you at. It would be nice if I can personalize my thermometer, for example, be able to change the temperature I like for medium rare. Another bit of criticism, it seems they want to make the app more fancy with you selecting meat and then the type of cut. But the temperature for almost all the cuts are the same temperature. For example, chicken, whether it’s breast or thighs, bone in or boneless, it’s 165 degrees. Same with beef, medium rare is same across all the various cuts. Overall this is a very nice thermometer with some great features and I like it very much. The design of the thermometer and the case is very simple and has a nice look to it.

The Ninja Pro Thermometer came well packaged with easy instructions and setup. You have to insert the battery and let it charge before first use. I did not like how you had to open the battery slot - using a coin or butter knife - would be better to have something easier without grabbing a tool. The software was easy to download and register and synced with the thermometer without any issues. I found it very inconvenient to insert the thermometer horizontally into the meat beyond the insert line on the thermometer. It works fine on a roast or large cuts of meat (over 1.5") which is basically a big steak or fat chicken breast, but not practical for burgers, chops, meatloaf, or smaller beef cuts. That being said, when cooking a steak, the app was easy to use and helpful. You select the cut of meat and desired wellness or you can manually monitor the temperature. It said could not estimate the cooking time on the steak, despite trying to insert the thermometer four different times. It does tell you when to flip the meat and it did a good job (accurate) of cooking the meat to the desired temp/wellness. I cooked the steak to medium rare at 140 degrees, and after resting, the result was perfect (it also tells you when to take off the heat source to rest). The thermometer is obviously very hot to the touch after using, so you have to remove with an oven mitt and let cool down for at least 20 minutes before washing. Overall, the thermometer worked extremely well for it's intended purpose, however, I found it inconvenient to insert and wash, so will probably use my regular digital thermometer (that does not stay in the food) for most cooking.

Ninja pro chef thermometer review I really like the new Ninja Pro Chef thermometer it’s small and has a long lasting battery that’s easy to recharge. The thermometer itself can handle high temperatures up to 700F without getting damaged. It can be used in an oven or an outdoor grill. It tolerates open flame without damage. The thermometer connects to your smartphone using the Ninja Pro Chef App with Bluetooth. The Ninja Pro app allows you to pick the type of meat and the doneness you desire, it has a great layout and is easy to use. Pairing the thermometer to the App was a snap. The app lets you keep an eye on your meats temperature and notifies you exactly when to take it off to get the perfect doneness it even figures out the perfect cooking and resting time to get your meat just how you like it. You can pick 5 levels of doneness rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, and well done. Ninja even adjust for marinated vs seasoned meats with lower temps for marinated to prevent burning. Can even change the doneness during the cooking and the app will recalculate the cook and resting time. You You receive notifications to keep tabs on your food as it cooks even if the app is running in the background. I tried it with a Pork roast and it was cooked perfectly to the exact doneness I selected. I like how the app tells you how much time is left and when to take it out to rest. Just FYI there are settings for Potatoes and Plant based Proteins in the app as well The thermometer itself is well built and made from what looks like stainless steel it has a line that shows you how far to insert it into the meat which is a nice touch. Although the thermometer is waterproof, you do have to wait to cool down before washing to prevent damage to the thermometer. Of note the thermometer is not dishwasher safe and needs to be handwashed only. The thermometer itself has a non slip grip which makes it easier to handle when you’re checking the temperature. The percent remaining charge is shown in the app. It takes 1 hour to charge the thermometer from 0% and a full charge lasts about 30 hours. The case is small 1.77" W x 6.14" L x 0.90" H which makes it perfect for easy kitchen storage and protects you from the sharp tip. The top of the thermometer has a no slip grip for easy handling. The thermometer case doubles as a charging base and holds a replaceable triple a battery, it also serves as a relay for the Bluetooth connection. You need to keep the case close to the thermometer when it is in use. The Bluetooth range is really good (up to 165 ft per Ninja) so you can multitask with other parts of meal prep while keeping an eye on your meat. I was able to receive updates even in the upstairs rooms of my house that were at least 150 feet away from the oven. The design of the case is a combination of black plastic and metal and has a modern look with the ninja logo on top. It has a LED battery indicator on top, Green is above 20% charge, red is below 20%, blinking means your thermometer is charging and no light is replace battery. The case has a convenient QR code on the back to register your thermometer. I was impressed how accurate the thermometer was and how well it estimated the cooking and rest time for the meat. Apparently you can cook multiple meats at the same time by pairing up to 4 thermometers each with their own name or number but I have not tried that out yet and not sure I will ever need to do that but if you are a multimeat cooker this could really help you. The app was very easy to use has a great UI and all the details are front and center. There are versions of the App for Android and IOS. This is a fantastic addition to your cooking and grilling tools. In my opinion it is well worth the price.

I am glad that Ninja has joined the wireless thermometer game and put out this thermometer that pairs so well with their outstanding app. I have wanted to add one of these to my cooking and grilling arsenal for a while now and I am glad that I finally get to! The build quality of the thermometer and charge case is awesome. It is more of an industrial kitchen look than the wood cases of the main competition wireless thermometers, but I think it looks good and is built to last. I wish that the wireless case was USB rechargeable and that it had a built-in hook for hanging the case from the grill, my crockpot, etc. since the case (as with other wireless thermometers) has to be within 5 feet of the actual thermometer to get the readings that can then transmit via Bluetooth to your phone app. The thermometer itself is great to use and what I would hope for at this price. It went inserted perfectly into my chuck pot roast and allowed me to get the temperature up to and sustained in the range of what I wanted to get the perfect, melt-in-your mouth pot roast. I have a really unreliable crockpot at this time, and it was great to be able to keep track of when the ambient temperature was getting too hot inside the crockpot and to adjust the crockpot accordingly. The only downside I am noticing with the thermometer and case combination is that it seems like the thermometer and case have a hard time staying connected when the thermometer is inside my crockpot. I was about to go nuts with the amount of disconnection alerts I was getting on my phone from the thermometer. I ended up having to balance the case on the class lid just to maintain a reliable connection that didn’t drop out every two minutes. Gratefully, I know that Ninja stands behind their products and I am certain they are going to release a firmware update eventually that will probably help address finicky issues like this. Altogether, I will give this thermometer 5 out of 5 stars. It helps to safely and accurately cook my food and is altogether built into a great package made and sold by a most excellent company. I love that this wireless thermometer takes the guess-work out of cooking meat. The app paired the device quickly and easily with my phone. To use, you just tell the app what kind of meat you are cooking and what level of doneness you prefer (rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, or well-done.) Then you insert the probe at the thickest part of your meat and begin cooking. The probe measures the ambient temperature inside your cooking device as well as the meat temperature and you can watch the temperature reading as it rises in the app. It also gives you an estimated completion time in some cases. (See the FAQs on the Ninja website for exceptions.) It tells you when to remove the meat, and since meat continues to cook for a short while after you remove it from the heat, it gives a short “resting” time for the meat. Then it tells you when it is done. You also have the option of doing a “timed cook” or a “manual setting”. If you click on “Charts” in the app, there are chef-tested cooking charts for different kinds of meat and different cooking devices, such as oven, air fryer, grill, smoker, etc. You can’t connect with more than one phone at a time, but you can set up the app on more than one phone. On my first try using the thermometer, I cooked 4 pork chops on the outside grill. One was slightly larger than the others, so I used that one to put the probe in. The thermometer behaved exactly as it should. It kept track on the app of the ambient temperature inside the grill, and also kept track of the internal temperature of the pork chop. When the pork chops were 5 degrees from being ready, I got the notice to remove the food from the grill and let it rest. When it reached the correct internal temperature, it told me it was done. And yes, the pork chops were perfectly done! My second attempt was cooking Cornish Game Hens. I cut the hen in half so they would lay flat on the grill. Then I inserted the probe into the thickest part of the chicken breast. The meat was less than an inch thick, so I didn’t expect good results since the instructions say the meat needs to be at least 1 inch thick. However, when the app said the food was done, it turned out great!

I’m pretty excited about the Ninja ProChef thermometer as it couldn’t have come at a better time. This compact thermometer is a huge kitchen solution I think everyone should have, especially if you’re constantly short on time or fairly distracted when it comes to cooking. So needless to say, I definitely like this device. The device is very straightforward and only includes a base, the thermometer, and a battery. Of course there’s an app to download which is very easy to navigate and understand. Setup through the app was a breeze, simply taking me step-by-step through installing the battery, cleaning instructions, and how to insert the devise into the food to be cooked. After a 2-minute setup/registration process, I was ready to go! The first piece of meat I tried (beef) was ready for testing. I was eager to find out just how accurate the ProChef will be, especially since I can easily overcook meat. With a 2” cut of beef, I inserted the thermometer, set my oven and my cooking temp preference on the app, and placed the beef in my oven. To my surprise, the alerts were very quick, immediately showing each degree difference in temperature as the meat began to heat up. What I really like is the fact that the app alerted me that my food was done, though my oven timer was still going. NO MORE OVERCOOKED MEAT, yaaay! Oh, one last note, the base must remain close to your cooking source to maintain the signal from the thermometer, definitely understandable. Cleanup is simple, just use a cloth with warm soapy water to clean, no dishwashing as this is stated everywhere in the instructions. Also, you have to keep in mind the thermometer is hot so use mits when removing from your food. Hands down I give this 5 stars with literally no negative points!

The Ninja - ProChef Wireless Thermometer takes only minutes to configure out-of-the-box. Inserting the battery into the base and installing the mobile app is pretty much it. Letting the thermometer probe stay cradled for a good 30 minutes in the base, while you focus on the app and get your oven or grille ready, is recommended. (the first time) There's not much to complain about with respect to the app. If comes configured with all the various & common food stuffs you'd want to be monitoring the temperature of and the general layout of the app is clean, organized and easy to read. We demo'd the Ninja - ProChef Wireless Thermometer with a few different sizes/cuts of sirloin and it performed well enough to produce appealing results. The app prompted when to flip the steak and maintained a continual cooking timer from "flip", to "done" and all the way through to "rest". What I found perplexing was the vast difference between our Weber's built in mechanical thermometer and the Ninja's reported ambient temperature. Our Spirit II is only a few years old. But I didn't let that distract me. What also had me scratching my head was the speed at which the app prompted me to expect the steak being monitored to actually be done. On a 1 lb sirloin the overall cook time should have been approx 4 minutes per side (from experience) and it ended up being much shorter than that even though the "canned"/programmed temperature of 130 'F was never reached. On my first attempt at using the Ninja - ProChef Thermometer with much smaller "cuts", the guidance seemed to make more sense - but on a this 2nd, larger steak grilling attempt, the app had alerted me to removing the protein and to let them rest with the internal temperature having barely eclipsed 120 'F. Seeing that, I proceeded to let the steaks continue cooking on the grille for additional 2 minutes - waiting until I saw the temperature reach approx. 128 'F before removing them from the grille. The steaks came out perfectly pink in the center like Medium Rare should be. So, I'm not entirely confident in how the app coordinates the entire process vs. the temperature points. My take away from this is that this Ninja - ProChef Wireless Thermometer is perfect for anyone wanting an accurate meat thermometer with an app used strictly for temperature monitoring ... and to sort of ignore the timer clock or work with it cautiously & in an adaptive way. We'll need to test this thermometer out with much larger cuts of meat, like a larger roast and see how it works vs. our Profile high-end kitchen oven & probe and also try other types of protein in the app to fully adapt to using this thing across the board. But for the time being, one should use this thermometer in a hybrid fashion for a while in the beginning, applying your own preferences & better judgement to get the cooking results ultimately want. In other words; use it to monitor how you normally cook stuff 'by eye and wrist watch', whatever, and compared that to what the Ninja is saying. Other notable facets of the Ninja - ProChef Wireless Thermometer: Solid build quality Easy to clean The base/transmitter needs to be in close proximity to the thermometer in actual use Firmware updates, if any, are available & managed by the mobile app Keep in mind that for slabs of protein, you need to skewer through the side to allow for flipping on a grille and keeping the thermometer probe centered & at a proper depth is key (guide line on probe) In summary, the Ninja - ProChef Wireless Thermometer is a handy piece of tech that I can recommend - if you know what you getting into. I expected it to be more temperature driven vs. time driven but perhaps that's a wrong expectation... I do know that if I had followed the time-based prompting to remove these 1 lb sirloins from the grille & ignored the real-time temperature, they would have been under-cooked at the center.

A few years ago I purchased a wireless thermometer. I used it 3 times and it has been in a drawer since that final effort. But I’m a tech freak and I also cook more frequently these days. Plus, time has passed and I was hoping the technology had improved. I was correct. The Ninja ProChef Wireless Thermometer is a pleasure to use- indoors and outdoors. Set-up is easy thanks to both an insert in the box and a step-by-step app. Once set-up, I decided to cook a roast pork loin. The app once again takes you step-by-step. It shows whether you’re Bluetooth connected or not (you must be) and your thermometer battery status (it’s charged by the changeable battery in the communicating base. Choose your food- animal, fish or plant-based, part (cut) of said incendiary, and desired doneness. If you have a specific temperature target, that is an option. Insert the Ninja thermometer, touch “start monitoring” and get to cookin’. The app constantly updates both the internal and ambient temperatures as well as calculating remaining cooking time. Here’s what I thought to be really cool-it will alert you when it’s ALMOST time to remove food from the heat source and allow it to rest..and then provides a countdown. I was untrusting when it told me to remove the pork at 140 degrees, but then watched the temperature ascend to exactly the target. My only gripe, a very small one , is I wish the battery in the base was rechargeable.

This is my second wireless thermometer and the first Ninja brand. There are a lot of positives with this item- It is battery operated but the life seems to be decent. I have used several times and the power is fine. I do wish it was rechargeable vs. battery- the only real downside so far. It is thick and a bit hard to push into a steak. You need to be sure it is in up to the line for accurate readings. The line is helpful. My other model does not have a line to tell you how far to put it in. The app gives you all the information you need for perfect food. It tells you the current time and if it's something like a steak- even when to flip and rest. I always had trouble cooking steak. They were either over or under done. Never "just right". Since using a wireless thermometer to track the internal temp, I have never had that issue. I have used it to check the internal temperature of things like a casserole to be sure it was heated enough inside. The uses are endless. The range is very good (better than my other brand). I can take my phone to my room while my food is cooking and never burn anything. If you are a new cook, or even an experienced one, a wireless thermometer like this will improve your game. Only reason it did not get 5 stars is the use of a battery vs. rechargeable.

I’m a man in my forties so needless to say I’m into smoking meat. It’s either that or watching WWII videos, which I also do on the weekends but mostly I’m smoking something lol. I have a bunch of thermometers but have always wanted a wireless probe for a much easier process. I trust Ninja as I have multiple Ninja products and they’re all still working and haven’t let me down. This is a great company y’all, can’t say enough about their products. I have a barrel smoker, electric smoker, and have recently graduated to a Traeger pellet smoker. I love the set it and forget it aspect to a pellet smoker. Recently, I have been having issues lately keeping consistent temps with the Traeger. Little did I know this little Ninja wireless thermometer would help me correct those issues. I’ll get to that in a minute, first to go through some of the particulars. Pretty basic components and very simple to understand how it all works. There’s the charging hub, the probe, and a battery. The battery inserts into the bottom of the charger and boasts a 30 hour battery life according to Ninja. The slot to open the battery compartment is very easy to use and they made it so you can use some change in your pocket to open it if no screwdriver is handy. (photo) Good idea to download the Ninja app before you get started. I did have a little problem getting that to load up. It sat and laoded for quite some time which was irritating. (Photo) Once loaded and set up I will say the app is very intuitive, straight forward and very easy to use. Make sure you follow the directions and charge the probe for at least an hour before using it. It would be a bad idea to have it run out of gas half way through your cook. For my review I decided to smoke a pork shoulder. It’s one of the easiest things to smoke and I had one in my freezer I really needed to cook before it went bad. After the hour I put the probe in my pork and put it on my smoker. The hub is nice in that is magnetic on the back so you can stick it on the side of something near your smoker, or on the smoker if there’s an area that doesn’t get hot. I have a pull out tray so I kept it there. You need to keep the hub near the charger to keep the Bluetooth connection strong. Here’s where I get to tell you how much this probe helped my recent cooking issues. The probe not only tells you the temp of what it’s placed in, it also tells you the ambient temp in your smoker, oven, or whatever device you’re using to cook with. I quickly realized I was not up to the 220 F temp I wanted for my cook. I was only getting around 165 – 170F so I turned the dial to 250F on the Traeger and gave it 10 minutes. The probe was still only reading 185 – 190 so I turned it up to 275F on the pellet grill, now, finally I’m getting 220-225 consistently. Quickly realized that my Traeger has been inconsistent for a while and thanks to the Ninja probe now I know that!! Once I got closer to getting through the stall period and getting to 170F , I checked the app and I was at 167F at 4:02pm. I realized the battery was only showing 45% on the probe. (photo) At that point I was 6 hours into the cook, I started it at 10am. I’ve smoked some pretty big briskets that have taken well into the 14 hour or more mark for time. I was worried thinking about how it would handle something like that. Hopefully if you give it more of a charge than the initial hour, it can handle it. Because again, nobody wants a dead thermometer half way or more through the cook. Almost forgot to mention, it’s not like you can leave your house and pull up the app 5 miles away and expect to know your temps. I believe the range is 150 FT for your app to pick up the signal. Back to the cook. I usually wrap my shoulders at 170 and got hasty with my foil and the probe poked through the foil on the first try. Just be careful when wrapping around the probe as it’s very hot #1, and #2, last thing you want is all that magical rendered fat and flavor to leak out of your wrap job. Once it got to where I wanted it, I took it out and rested it. The battery was still in the teens and easily handled the remainder of the cook and the pork shoulder turned out great. (photo) My first experience with a wireless probe was a great one thanks to Ninja and bonus, I got my pellet smoker inconsistencies figured out. Can’t wait to smoke something else to try it out again!! Defintely recommend this to anyone who wants to get into smoking or to up your game. I would trust Ninja before any other company that makes wireless probes.

I am not a "grill master," and am a late bloomer to the wonders of propane. That being said, I still haven't mastered the timetables of grilling meats. I have a great quick read thermometer, but one distraction and I'm left with rubber for dinner. My experience with the Ninja Pro Thermometer has been close to perfect in getting a good internal read for the best texture. First to note, this needs the app to function. There is no external display of any sort. Also, if the meats are thin, or short (tri-tip cubes), you will have an issue as the thermometer must be inserted fairly deep into the meat cuts. Although used continually between different batches, they recommend allowing it to cool before handling, but I did just fine with oven gloves to switch around. The app is straight forward and very easy to read and understand and they thought of all the necessary suggestions and alerts. Flip food now, out of range, and even calculated cook time, all with great accuracy. It's fairly hard to mess this up. I've had several BT thermometers in the past that have all ended up in the trash due to range, heat tolerance, etc. This has been the best so far. It wasn't until I put several walls between myself and the thermometer that i went "out-of-range." very similar to BT headphones, the more obstructions, the weaker the signal, but even then, once I came back into range, it picked right back up from where we left off. Steaks, chicken breasts, and turkey burgers all came out just where I needed them to be. The chicken breast was juicy with no rubbery sections. All I did differently was listen to the thermometer. Last tip: For batches, just be sure the meats have similar thickness so that when you follow the directions for the measured meat, you get consistent cooks. One breast was a bit too thick and slightly undercooked, so I need to "hot swap" the thermometer to get the final read. Looking forward to using this on the guest of honor come Thanksgiving!!

All my life I have been winging it when it comes to cooking steaks, meatloaf, chicken, and turkey. Pretty much any type of meat or poultry that requires longer cooking times due to its thickness. This as you can imagine has caused me to end up with mixed results. I do believe that you can use recipes online or a web search and come up with a close estimate as to what you are cooking and how to end up with the perfect cook, however one thing that those estimates will always vary is the actual thickness of the meat and the heat source you are using to cook the meat. The Ninja Pro Chef Wireless Thermometer is the answer to this variable. This thermometer monitors the internal temperature of your meat in real time and this way you can see exactly what is going on inside of your cook. The NOT so GOOD: I will mention right now the big downside to this device which was NOT explained or advertised when I selected this thermometer. The instructions CLEARLY state “DO NOT use the thermometer with frozen protein or cuts of meat thinner than 1 inch”. This is a huge downside for me as my normal cuts of meat range from ½’’ to ¾’’. I expected to be able to use this in my normal day-to-day cooking but as per the instructions I will not be able to. I am not sure why this is not allowed, but it limits the different use cases and may be a deal breaker for some. I just wanted to mention this first because as mentioned earlier, this was not transparent when I selected this product. Okay now onto the GOOD: Build Quality – The thermometer is built very nicely. The case is a mixture of metal and plastic. It feels very sturdy and does not have any creaks when handling it. The thermometer itself seems like very high-quality materials also. I can’t be sure, but the main stem seems to be a form of stainless steel perhaps with an unknown material at the top. The thermometer snaps securely into the case for storage and charging. All around I am very impressed with the materials used to build this device. One thing to mention is the case is not rechargeable, it uses an AAA battery which some may like because you can quickly get the device up and running, but I think many would prefer that it was able to be recharged via USB. The Application - So within the app you can choose the type of protein you are going to cook, then it will ask you to choose the level of doneness with a target temperature associated with that level of doneness. Once selected you can hit start monitoring and get to cooking. It’s very easy and intuitive to use. I was worried it would be complicated, but it wasn’t. Real World Use: Today I went to the store and selected a nice NY Strip Steak that was over the 1-inch requirement. Normally we wouldn’t select a steak this size just because it could prove to be difficult to cook properly without using a thermometer/probe. We followed the directions to insert the thermometer in the middle of the meat, and to the minimum insertion line (well past that) and threw it in a cast iron skillet to start the cook. Using the app, we saw immediately the inside temperature of the steak was at 49 degrees. Soon after contacting the skillet the temperature started to rise. The application auto- calculates the remaining time, when to flip the steak and when to remove the steak to allow it to properly rest. While it was resting there was a count down timer also to let you know when it was ready to slice and serve. I must be honest with you, if you are going to use this to make a BIG turkey, Chicken, Meatloaf, Pot roast, this thing is going to change the way you cook and should give you professional results. The steak came out perfect. The first slice, then the second and seventh, all perfectly cooked to how the app was set. The device takes all the guess work out of cooking complicated pieces of proteins, and I think that is something really great. I am looking forward to holidays when we will now be able to set the app to the temperature we want and forget about the conventional way of timing the meat, which at best gets you close to or sometimes over the level of doneness you are aiming for. Who is this for? I will say if you’re someone who wants to take all of the stress out of cooking large pieces of meats, worried about under or overcooking them, this is for you! If you’re trying to level up your cooking mastery, or just want to make your life easier, then this is for you. I wasn’t sure how it would work or if it would do a good job, but I am here to say that so far we love this wireless thermometer. I highly recommend giving this a go for all the reasons mentioned above. Cheers!

Was hosting Thanksgiving this year and decided to use my pellet smoker to cook the Turkey. Picked this probe up on a Black Friday deal and used it to monitor the Turkey. App was very easy to use and the probe did a fantastic job, turkey came out perfect. I would suggest reading through all of the directions at first, because it wasn't initially obvious that the charger/case portion of it needed to by the probe so I did have connectivity issues at first. But once I actually read how to use the thing properly, it worked great. Can't wait to use it again.

I do love grilling. One thing I’ve waiting on purchasing was a wireless thermometer (I have the instant read type currently) but the thought of another wireless gadget was too tempting. Enter in the Ninja ProChef Wireless Thermometer! Promising a more reliable range, a 700 degrees F max heat resistance and a 30 hour battery life – this device could save your meat cookin’ reputation! The thermometer itself is small (maybe 6” long) yet thick (almost ¼”) and needs to be inserted about 3 inches into the target ingredient. That’s a bit difficult for hamburgers or even chicken breast – so seemingly most useful on larger cuts of meat. I was a bit surprised the base requires and came with 1 AAA battery. I would have thought all small devices would just be rechargeable via a USB connection. Maybe they’re saving it for a future version, but it’s the reason for 4 stars vs 5 stars for now. The cool part of this thermometer is the Ninja ProConnect app. It’s got presets for a variety of meats and a manual setting for you custom cooks. Get real-time dual-temp updates (ambient air and meat temp) right on your phone! Overall – very happy with my use thus far of this wireless thermometer. The range and temperature seems good and accurate and my food was done perfectly for once!
