About this product
Bold, weird, wild, wired, sonically luxurious yet never losing touch with it's DIY-'til-I-die roots, Thumb World is a voyage to the outer rings of Pictish Trail's mind at it's darkest, funniest and most inventive - a plugged-in, fuzzed-out, fucked-up contemplation on, as he puts it, Inchlife repeating and gradually degrading, the inevitable cyclical nature of things, and the sense of their ultimately being no escape.Inch Expect alien abductions, thumping beats, Trump-haired pigs, paternal panic, astronaut S*x, bad acid trips, worse hangovers, lashings of distortion and a lot of anthropomorphic thumbs. InchOur opposable thumbs are the things that separate us from most other animals on Earth, Inch Pictish explains, of the fat digit symbolism, Inchthey are also the things that we use to swipe on screens, to separate ourselves from our normal lives, but which in turn trap us within an artificial reality.InchProduced and mixed by Rob Jones, featuring string arrangements from Kim Moore and drumming from Alex Thomas (Squarepusher, Anna Calvi, Air), Thumb World is Pictish Trail's most collaborative album to date. An audio-visual dialogue with Swatpaz, AKA Scottish artist Davey Ferguson - the man behind the Turbo Fantasy series and an entire episode of cult TV phenomenon Adventure Time - furnished Johnny with not just a graphic aesthetic for the album, but even helped him to shape the sound of the finished record. InchI sent Davey a work-in-progress mix of the album, Inch Johnny says, Inchhe came back with sketches in which he had reimagined Thumb World as an 80's arcade game. Some of the songs are centered around specific visual images, inspired by Davey's sketches.InchDue for on Fire Records on February 21, 2020. Four years in the making, Thumb World is the much-anticipated follow-up to his critically acclaimed Scottish Album of the Year Award public vote winner Future Ech

Life Slime is the sixth full-length album by Pictish Trail (AKA Johnny Lynch) - a strange, tender, psychedelic electro-pop record shaped by transformation, exhaustion, hope, guilt, and renewal. Written at home on the Isle of Eigg and recorded at Mike Lindsay's studio down in Margate (Tunng / LUMP), the album follows 2022's critically acclaimed Island Family, further refining Lynch's world of lo-fi electronics, warped pop melodies, baggy psych rhythms and emotionally direct songwriting. It's a record that balances woozy synth-pop, motorik propulsion and intimate acoustic songwriting, all infused with the emotional messiness that gives the album it's title.Across the album's singles - the guilt-stained psych-pop ballad 'Hold It', the life-affirming shimmer of 'Infinity Ooze', the late-night confession of 'Torch Song', the expansive eight-minute centrepiece 'Another Way', and the cinematic closer 'Werewolf Ending' - Life Slime charts a journey from emotional fracture to uneasy . 'Sorry Eyes' brings a punchy electro-pop strut with a sharp emotional edge, 'Crystal Cave' drifts through crystalline guitars and shoegaze haze into transformation, and the title track 'Life Slime' moves with a slow, weary swagger toward bittersweet acceptance. Together, these tracks form a cohesive album statement about surrender, resistance, change and renewal. Album Tracks 1. Hold It 2. Life Slime 3. Toxic Spillage 4. Battery Pack 5. Another Way 6. Sorry Eyes 7. Infinity Ooze 8. Crystal Cave 9. Torch Song 10. Werewolf Ending

Peter Seivewright was amongst the first musicians to seriously research (in 1994) the 100+ keyboard sonatas by Venetian composer Galuppi, also famed as a pioneer of opera buffa. While others have since come to appreciate and record the fine variety and novelty of these works, for many personal and career reasons, Seivewright's series was held up after volume 3 was released in 2004 but is now back on track with this intermediate album which includes also the G major Piano Concerto. Many of the sonatas have had to be reconstructed from single movement manuscripts. They show amazing diversity, from single-movement works to two- and three-movement pieces, and from basic baroque style to a Romanticism prescient of Schumann. Seivewright strongly believes that the works were specifically written for the pianoforte rather than harpsichord due to their frequent need for sostenuto and other factors. Peter Seivewright studied at Oxford then at the Royal Northern College of Music. He has performed extensively as recitalist and concerto soloist and has taught in colleges around the world, from Scotland to Trinidad to Afghanistan and most recently in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Album Tracks 1. Sonata in D Major 2. Sonata in D minor 3. Sonata in F Major 4. Sonata in G Major 5. Sonata in C Major 6. Sonata in E Flat Major 7. Sonata in G Major 8. Sonata in F Major 9. Piano Concerto in G Major
