This game is one of the best shooter em ups so far with crazy levels and crazy game mechanics .

I just want to preface this review by saying that I never have played any other game in the Raiden series (except maybe on Playstation; don't remember) but I have heard of them so I decided to try this one out. I'm glad I did because it is a fantastic shoot em up style game. The action is on point and it has a nice difficulty curve for those not accustomed to these types of games. If you enjoy shmups and you are looking for a new take on an old franchise, give Raiden V a shot.

This is a great old school vertical shooter from the older arcades. The physical game comes with a CD and art book that makes it worth getting it over the digital version

I missed out on playing Raiden V on the PS4 so when I saw it was coming to Switch I had to get it. This a great game on the go that works really well on the Switch. Playing on the go may be a turn of for some players due to the screen size. A lot of real estate is taken up by the hud so the actual gameplay screen is quite small on the Switch. I don’t mind at all but it could be a turn off for some. The graphics and sound are great. Controls work really well and I experienced no slow down at all. I highly recommend for any SCHMUP fan!

This game is great for those who like the shoot em up games. Reminds me a lot of HAWK on mobile and somewhat like Rezogun on PS4 but this is a lot more high paced. I dont like how the background makes it hard to keep and eye on the targets. Its also a very short story line, but a very fun game to play on different modes with different weapons to work on beating the high scores.

pew pew. I think they call these kinds of games pew-tem-ups. what ever they call it, its really fun. in space, you shoot at everything and everything shoots back. its beautiful, fun, fast, frenetic, and replayable ad-infinitum. There are two drawbacks though: 1 - the dialogue happens at the sides of the screen almost constantly throughout gameplay, but the action requires intense focus, so you'll never catch what the characters are blathering about, and 2 - this is a vertical shooter, but doesn't offer TATE / vertical mode on the switch?! Pretty much every other vertical shooter on the system does (and there are LOTS), so it seems like a gross oversight and a legit complaint for fans

Even though I am so bad at shoot-em-ups, I just can't get enough of them. I love the music playing, I love being able to blast baddies, get upgrades, and get through showers of bullets through nice, but tough gameplay, and even though I am so bad at these type of games, I still love them. RaidenV is no exception. Highly recommend it, even if you don't like these kind of games.

This is great and works well on the Switch. I like the new style of not insta-dying when getting hit. Autoshoot is a blessing, and being able to map shoot to the trigger allowing your thumb to be ready to hit bomb is also nice. So far the only part I didn't like is that the background moving so fast is really distracting. Also the little yellow medals — or whatever they are — are distracting amongst the similarly coloured bullets. I suspect it would be easier to play on the big screen, but I have the Lite. Anyway, highly recommended.

Fun modern update on classic shooter. Difficult but a great time waster especially in Handheld mode.

Man Raiden V is great! a Bullet-Hell shooter that doesn't let up! If you like shooters get this game! However... My only complaint is that it's a short game. That being said there is a lot of replay-ability as you can get new ships, weapons and more. I nice addition to this game is that you get a nice art book, and a mini-CD soundtrack! Love the extras!

Be prepared for a hard time trying to keep up with everything on the screen. This game brings back memories of spending endless quarters on arcade machines but with modern graphics. Much more forgiving since you won't be forced to restart a level if you lose. I found it on clearance and it's a good game to play for a quick session.

The fifth installment of the series gives you more of what you expect. Nothing too ridiculous as far as bullet hells are concerned. I have no idea what the story in the game is. I can barely hear the dialog, nevermind read all the stuff in the borders. Having a health meter instead of lives is a bit strange, but not really, once you think of each hit as a life. Grab it if you prefer your shooters to have that 80s and 90s flavor.

been a long time since Ive played raiden, and man did I have a blast with this game. controls are great, graphics and the modelling for the three jets are fantastic (imo). I know there are dialogues between characters but I don't know how anyone can listen to all that chatter while dodging bullet hell. if you love the shoot em up genre, this is your cup of tea.

A fun limited release of a fun space shooter! This release is cool because it also includes a mini soundtrack disc & booklet. Game is a lot of fun and plays great on the switch

I've been playing Raiden games for a long time. I used to play them in the arcades until they closed down. I love these types of games. If you enjoy 2D vertically scrolling shooter games, this is great to have on handheld.

The Raiden series has been a long standing franchise and fans should not sleep on this one. This particular game is only getting a single low print run from UFO and once it is gone no more copies will be made (of course you can still buy digital). This is a vertical shooter (shoot'em up) that is slightly slower paced and less frantic than the popular "bullet hell" shooters but it is still quite challenging. Shmup fans should not sleep on this, especially collectors looking to add this game to their shelves. It will likely not drop in price significantly enough to risk waiting. With the challenge, multiple modes and great unlocks this game has great replay value for the money. Get it soon or you'll regret it later.

I grew up playing games like Rtype and Ikaruga do this game was a suprise. Its fun but tough but which one of these games arent? Multiplayer is a blast and its fun competing against player 2 for the highest score.

The Raiden series has never had my favorite shmups. A number of other games manage to execute a little better. Despite all that, Raiden 5 manages to be a fun game. Especially if you have a friend to play with. If you like Raiden and need more, check out Ikaruga
