Renaud Capuçon - Un Violon A Paris - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Elgar's violin concerto - distinctively passionate and nostalgic - is one of the great late-Romantic concertos. InchIt is a huge piece,Inch says Renaud Capuçon Inchboth in terms of it's length and it's romantic and noble nature.Inch This is Capuçon's first recording with Sir Simon Rattle, here conducting the London Symphony Orchestra. When Rattle chose Elgar's Enigma Variations for his inaugural concert as the LSO's music director in 2017, he was celebrating the close historic links between the composer and the orchestra. Not only did the LSO accompany Fritz Kreisler in the premiere of the violin concerto in 1910, Elgar became it's Principal Conductor the following year. Paired with the concerto on this album is his violin sonata, first performed in 1919. Renaud Capuçon, who calls the sonata Incha work of nobility and tendernessInch, is joined by one of the leading British pianists of today, Stephen Hough. Album Tracks 1. Recorded with Daniel Harding as conductor and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Much of the violin writing in the Sibelius concerto is purely virtuosic, but even the showiest passages alternate with the melodic. This concerto is generally symphonic in scope, departing completely from the often lighter, 'rhythmic' accompaniments of many other concertos. Renaud InchI discovered the concerto by Samuel Barber on a recording made by Isaac Stern, which is very moving for me because Stern played it on the violin that is now mine. I heard it again in Gil Shaham's interpretation. The first two movements are very lilting, very melodic and generate a lot of images. The finale is very virtuoso.Inch Album Tracks 1. Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47 I. Allegro Moderato 2. Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47 II. Adagio Di Molto 3. Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47 III. Allegro, Ma Non Tanto 4. Violin Concerto, Op. 14 I. Allegro 5. Violin Concerto, Op. 14 II. Andante 6. Violin Concerto, Op. 14 III. Presto in Moto Perpetuo
