6CD anthology of Brit hard rock pioneers Bedlam, an early Cozy Powell venture that ended when he left in 1974 for a solo career. Includes original and new mixes of their highly-regarded 1973 album for the Chrysalis tag as well as live recordings and studio out-takes. Issued in the summer of 1973, the self-titled debut album by Bedlam is regarded by admirers as a cornerstone of early 70s British hard rock, described by collector guide book Galactic Ramble as Inchburied treasureInch for metal fans. A later incarnation of West Midlands turn-of-the decade rockers Big Bertha (actually The Ace Kefford Stand minus ex-Move man Ace), Bedlam comprised brothers Dave and Denny Ball, former Jeff Beck drummer Cozy Powell and singer Frank Aiello, previously half of mid-60s mod duo The Truth. Unfortunately the band collapsed in 1974 when Powell and Aiello opted to sign with Mickie Most after Cozy scored a Top Three single with 'Dance With The Devil'. A hugely expanded 50th anniversary edition of their sole LP, 'The Bedlam Anthology' is a six- CD celebration of the band. The first four CDs feature the original album mix, a new 2023 remix prepared by Denny Ball from the original multi-tracks and a pair of thunderous live shows from late 1973 and early 1974, the latter recorded at the end of their American tour with Black Sabbath. Disc Five is a 1970 Big Bertha live set taped during a brief tour of Germany, while Disc Six comprises a stack of 1968-1970 demos and singles, tracking the Ball/Ball/Powell triumvirate from their early days as Cream-inspired trio Ideal Milk through to associations with Ace Kefford and former Tintern Abbey frontman David MacTavish. Seven CD set. Digitally remastered box set featuring all of the albums and singles recorded by the legendary American acid/progressive rock band Iron Butterfly recorded for Atlantic's Atco tag between 1967 and 1971 and additional recordings made at the Fillmore East in New York City in April 1968. In October 1967, the band recorded their debut album, Heavy, which was released in January 1968. The album In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, issued in June 1968, would break the band into star status. It reached a height of #4 in the US charts and went on to sell a million copies. An edited version of the title track was issued as a single and reached the US top thirty. The band's third album, Ball, was released in January 1969 and was even more successful, reaching #3 in the US. The band undertook a punishing touring schedule and a series on concerts were recorded in May 1969, finally to be issued as Live in April 1970. They released Metamorphosis in May 1970 which saw the band take a heavier direction. After releasing a final single, Silly Sally in April 1971. Iron Butterfly disbanded. Although they would reform in the mid-1970s and continue to perform and record sporadically afterwards, their recorded work for Atco Records remains their main legacy. Unconcious Power - An Anthology 1967 - 1971 features all of the albums issued on Atco, all newly re-mastered from the original master tapes, and additionally includes the rare mono mixes of the albums Heavy and Live, (the only true separate mono mixes of their albums), both previously unreleased on CD, along with two CDs of recordings made at the Fillmore East in New York City on the 26th and 27th April 1968. It also includes all of the band's US non-album singles and single edits and a lavishly illustrated booklet with a new essay featuring interviews with Ron Bushy and Mike Pinera and a poster.
