Took a chance on an 870 EVO 1TB refurb as a recent $5 rewards certificate was due to expire. Ordered on 9/13, shipped from Bowling Green, Ohio on 9/16 via FedEx, arrived in SE MN on 9/18. Ending up matching in price a new 870 EVO 1TB I got from BB back in February 2023 (but ~$10 more than the one I got from BB in June of 2023). Both also using $5 rewards certificates. Shipping box was 11x9x3 inches with no packing so drive box slid/bounced around. (But not an issue with an SSD.) Owner was impatient with the drive box and ripped it open instead of "slicing" the black 1TB sticker/tape at the top left corner. The owner's manual was never opened. Drive was wiped, needed to create a GPT partition and simple volume in Disk Management. TBW 98GB, Power On Count 5, Power On Hours 0. In a bit of "reckless speculation" it appears an OS install was attempted. (Based on the aforementioned two new 870 EVO 1TBs I installed as Windows 10 Pro boot drives. They had a similar TBW and Power On count when the install was done.) Evidently the OS install failed and the owner bailed without extensive troubleshooting. His/her loss, my gain. Woo-hoo!!! I lucked out with an essentially new 870 EVO 1TB instead of one that was burned up with mining, etc. Being paranoid, ran the diagnostics in Magician. The Diagnostic Full Scan completed successfully but took much longer than the previous two 1TBs. But I had the EVO in an Orico 6619S3-BK dock, the USB3 interface evidently slowed things down. Confirmed when I saw the Performance Benchmark was not supported. I moved the SSD to a system with an available SATA 3 port. Then I ran the Performance Benchmark and the Extended SMART Self-test which completed successfully. In conclusion, I feel a tiny bit less bad about not jumping on more SSDs when the prices crashed. I, like most everyone else, assumed the prices would always decline. [Phooey]

SSD was in new condition. Runs perfect. I may be biased, but Samsung SSD are the BEST and the Magician software is a plus. I added the 870 to my 860 SSD. Speeds are tops in it's class.

I removed the standard 500GB HDD and installed this 1TB SSD. Faster loading time and system boot up is almost instant. It was a great way to bring new life to an old console.

I am really happy with the purchase. I am using this drive for a ps3 upgrade. Pros: Samsung 1TB of storage (dram buffer) 49.99 usd Came with the box and manual Cons: refurbished (but 49.99 usd though) Other than that I cannot complain. I will be buying many more of these later on in 2024 when the mega sales come. Thank you best buy for affordable product at the moment.

I understand there are risks when it comes to refurbished electronics, but I did not have this for even a year before the drive began to fail, causing my PC to slowdown and forcing me to remove this. This is not me making an objective statement about the quality of this being bad, it was exactly what I wanted and needed while it worked. But it is just very unfortunate that after this was no longer under warranty, it did break on me, and I did not have it very long in the grand scheme of things. Just be careful and weigh your options or the potential risks before you go with a refurbished HDD.

I canceled this product and never recieved a refund. I was told to wait for weeks by the website and now its passed the date. Awful company and awful service from the location in Compton.

As someone who has always been a bit iffy about buying refurbished products in general, let alone a refurbished solid state drive, buying this drive put those worries to rest. When I saw that this refurbished 1TB 870 EVO was selling for a fraction of the MSRP brand new, I decided to take the plunge as I was in dire need for an extra drive on my desktop as I needed more space but at the same time wanted to make sure it was an SSD as they're a lot faster. My unit came in a pretty much like new condition, and whenever I checked to see how much use the drive had seen prior within Samsung's Magician software, my drive had only been powered on for 9 hours! To say it was hardly used is an understatement, it was practically brand new. So for anyone out there looking to buy a new SATA SSD, I would highly consider this refurbished 870 EVO especially when it's on sale as I don't believe there to be any other SATA SSDs that can match this in terms of price to performance, the price is that good.

This is still the fastest, most reliable SSD on the market. I've been using Samsung drives for years, and they're almost infallible. I don't mind getting a refurbished model, because I know it's going to last, and at a great price. The Samsung Magician is still perfect for cloning drives.

The Samsung 870 EVO 1TB SATA solid-state drive is great when it comes to needing a fast, affordable, and reliable SSD. The 870 EVO comes with 1TB of storage, compatible with pictures, videos, and games. The slim, compact, and durable design allows for quick and easy installation. The price is unbeatable for the speed, quality, and space. Overall, I highly recommend this SSD.

“Refurb” drive I received was practically new except it did not come with a retail box or any orig packaging (just a brown box). SMART health data shows it was used less than 3 hours, power cycled 13 times, and no errors/reallocated sectors (which is what you want). Benchmarks confirmed ~500MB/sec read/write. Able to register warranty with Samsung w/ serial number. Can be returned as you never know what you’ll get. This is my 3rd refurb SSD purchase. Def recommend to save some money as an almost new Samsung SSD and will likely buy something similar again.

Fast and reliable SATA performance (~560 MB/s read, ~530 MB/s write), much quicker than old hard drives and good for everyday computing, gaming, and large file work.

By far the best SSD I’ve owned. Super fast. Brings renewed life back into older computers.

Good price. Nice size. Works like it's supposed to. Would buy it again at the same price.

I bought 2 of these "refurbished" SSDs. I use one of them for backing up my system daily and the other for weekly backups. The daily backup SSD is on continuously and receives a full or differential backup each day at a set time. So far, it's worked great. The weekly backup SSD is only turned on once a week to receive a full backup. It is then turned off. This protects against malware. Viruses can't get to the drive if it's powered down. So far, it's worked flawlessly. Both drives came in what looked like original packaging so they may have been "open box" returns...or not. In any case, I'm completely satisfied with these drives AND they're SAMSUNG at a fraction of new drive cost!

I have used PNY, Kingston, LiteOn, and few other off brand SSDs and always come back to Samsung EVO. I love the Samsung Magician software that allows you to monitor the drive health and performance a well as allow you to use system memory as a cache to speed up performance and set overprovisioning to reserve part of the drive capacity as unpartitioned space to help extend the life of the drive. It doesn't hurt to be able to get these drives at a greatly reduced price through Best Buy Geek Squad as reconditioned drives. Out of the 7 drives I have purchased this way, from 500GB to 2TB, all have had extremely low hours of use with no bad sectors and have performed exceptionally well. I will continue buying the Geek Squad Certified Refurbished Samsung EVO drives either until they are no longer made or I convert to M.2 after which I will probably also choose the Samsung drives.

These work well on computers that have gotten very slow, due to old platter type hard drives. This can make a computer that's almost unusable into a very good computer. I've had very good success with them. You simply use Samsung magician to clone the old drive and them replace the old drive with this one.
