About this product

As a Londoner, Scratchclart has always embraced the city's melting pot of influences that seep into the city from around the globe. And just as Detroit techno and Chicago house fused with Jamaican dancehall to splinter rave into a spectrum of microgenres in the 1980s and '90s, African sounds - from Afrobeats to gqom - are currently reprogramming the DNA of British dance music, whether it's drill, grime or breakbeat. This conversation is evident on Scratchclart's visionary InchDRMTRKInch series of EPs, and solidified more readily on last year's InchAfrotekInch, where he collaborated with South African producer Mxshi Mo and Baltimore beatmaker 3LON. On InchScratchclart & MenziInch, he progresses further, linking with one of Durban's most celebrated, and most outward looking dance music pioneers - Menzi Shabane. Cutting his teeth as part of early gqom duo Infamous Boiz, Menzi has produced for some of South Africa's most prominent stars, including Babes Wodumo, Moonchild Sanelly, Mahotella Queens, Zolani Mahola and Zakes Bantwini. His sound has always been hard to pinpoint, simmering between kinetic taxi techno and expertly engineered cinematic club music without pausing for breath.InchScratchclart & MenziInch is a fluid back-and-forth between these two musical vanguards that excavates commonalities in their approaches and exploits sonic loopholes, reworking their respective sounds into an energetic fusion of android diasporic bass pressure. First, Scratchclart strips Menzi's 'Shandis' down to it's bare bones, channeling the spirit of RnG into a syrupy and soulful cybergqom shiver of elegiac pads and rattling Durban toms. Menzi's deconstruction of InchDRMTRK EP IIIInch banger 'Drm Walk' is equally as mindbending, swinging Scratchclart's rhythm and submerging it in rainfall and siren blares, slowly reassembling it into a downtempo sub-heavy groan. The duo's head-to-head '

Pineapple Thief - It Leads To This - Deluxe Edition 2CD, Bluray, DVD & 52pg Book - COMPACT DISCS

Deluxe edition includes two CDs, Blu-ray, and DVD plus 52-page book. Recorded September 2020 to July 2023, the record took shape slowly but surely as the band meticulously perfected their sound. Often guarded, It Leads To This keeps it's ace in the pack up it's sleeve, biding it's time until all the right pieces fall in place, giving way to a beautiful, cinematic experience on every track. Conceptually, the record is Soord's efforts to better understand himself and the world around him. Opening with the coy melodies of 'Put it Right' before moving into the metallic groove of 'Rubicon', the album builds to the heart of the record with the epic title track, the cathartic 'The Frost', followed by an introspective 'All That's Left'. The ominous 'Now it's Yours' and 'Every Trace of Us' keep the foreboding atmosphere topped up whilst delivering The Pineapple Thief's signature dynamism, closing the record with the haunting 'To Forget'. One of the leading lights in Europe's experimental rock domain, The Pineapple Thief were formed in 1999 by founder and chief songwriter Bruce Soord. It Leads to This is their 14th studio album. The line-up has remained solid since 2016's game-changing Your Wilderness Bruce Soord (guitar/vocals), Jon Sykes (bass/backing vocals), Gavin Harrison (drums/percussion) and Steve Kitch (keyboards). Your Wilderness made the UK Album Chart Top 75 with 2018 follow-up Dissolution peaking at #36, alongside #1 UK Rock and Metal, #22 German album chart and #4 Netherlands Platomania album chart. Destiny71Z - EP2: Dimdraft - 12-INCH SINGLE [12 inch Vinyl Single]

Destiny71Z returns with his second EP for Eglo Records, a further dark and jazzy exploration through an array of analog hardware, focusing on the Buchla music easel and a stacked modular set up. Raw and unpredictable the EP fizzes and pops across 4 tracks, drawing on the influences of House, Techno, 2-Step and Electro, synthesizing it into something much harder to pigeonhole. The project is the alter-ego of multi instrumentalist, painter and producer Mathew Kirkis, who recently supported Floating Points on his solo UK/EU live tour. These four dance floor meditations express a talent well beyond the conventions of traditional club music, it is as much music for the mind as it is for the body. From the stuttering acid fried 2-Step Techno of 'Technique ZSL' and the shimmering space like odyssey of 'Suckmyskin' to the swirling House steppers 'Dimdraft' and 'OmegaTX', the EP surprises at every turn. Essential listening for fans of Legowelt, Floating Points, Pepe Bradock et al.

Menzi - Impazamo - 12-INCH SINGLE [12 inch Vinyl Single]

Menzi turns out the darkest Gqom on road with this ridiculously strong debut solo by Infamous Boiz' Menzi brimming with cyperpunk-cinematic sound design via hard-synched taxi techno drums, now pressed on limited edition vinyl for the first time.Getting deeper than anyone into the mechanics and mindset of South Africa's viral township techno sound, 28 year old Menzi Shabane makes seismic moves on the 'Impazamo' EP with six trax of gobsmacking Gqom pressure advanced by shocking levels of sound design detail and searing synth dynamics. Menzi hails from the Umlazi township of Durban, where he rose to prominence as one half of Gqom pioneers, Infamous Boiz, whose influence is now felt shuddering from speakers in clubs across the world. Aside from producing, Menzi also runs the annual Gqom Bloq party, Festive Road Block Umlazi, and recently has supplied beats for some of South Africa's biggest acts (Moonchild Sanelly, Mahotella Queens, Zolani Mahola and Zakes Bantwini), but it's this EP released last year on limited edition cassette that has put his name on the global dancefloor map.Daring to mess with the machinery of Gqom's sharply defined style, Menzi opens it up like Hellraiser's puzzlebox to truly invoke and unleash the sound's darkside spirits. The title tune's cinematic intro ratchets new levels of industrial drama to the sound that follow through in the pained hollers and BM-style screeches of 'Minimal Surge' and the sheets of acid rain drone that soak 'Underground Abaphansi', while the percussive ballistics of 'QGM' and the jaw-dropping 'Zulu Warrior' recall the deep fwd sound design of Nazar's experimental kuduro style, and Uganda's Ecko Bazz plays the role of shaman or spirit guide in the pitch black midnight tone of 'GQOM Tera'.A staggering set packing the strongest Gqom tracks on road right now, 'Impazamo' is unmissable for lovers of dark, heavy and futuristic
