This drive is hard to keep in stock because of the storage space, so I jumped on this when it became available again. No issues, nothing bad to say about it. Sale price made it even better. I will buy more.

I recently pre-ordered the Xbox One X and knew that a lot of the games I had on my previous hd (seagate 2TB), were going to by upgraded to 4K. Once patched by Microsoft, these games, which are running between 40-50 + GB would now be increased. I wanted a bigger hd that did not need to be plugged into an electrical source, but just the usb drive on the Xbox. The 5TB is very small and sleek, which can be easily hidden.

This is one of the few external HD you can buy without building it yourself that is 5tb and doesn’t need an additional power cord. Works great with consoles. PS4 itself does not allow an external hard drive to be plugged into a usb dongle, just keep that in mind.

If you are looking for a safe and durable storage alternative then this is right what you need. I have owned a 2 TB Seagate drive for years and they are reliable, fast and solid. I recommend this product.

I had a computer drive die on me taking with it a batch of family photos and files. Never again! I now back up important info keeping my computer drive uncluttered and files in a safe place. The Seagate drives are small, fast and hold a tone of info (5TB is amazing). We use these at work and I’ve never had one go bad or cause trouble. I highly recommend for your storage needs!

I strongly recommend cleaning up your computer and store it on an external drive for so many reasons. One being that if you're unlucky like me and your computer 'fries' than you know the rest. That happened many years ago and I can't forgive myself for not being proactive. I travel a lot and love the convenience of being able to carry it in my purse. Aside of the fact that this is so easy to use I love it that I don't have to bring my laptop or (desktop?) with me. Let me just say that the price was also very reasonable and wasn't able to find it anywhere else, most stores carry the 3TB and under. Sorry Best Buy for some reason I couldn't post the pics (site crashed a few times)

I was looking for a big size that doesn’t require its own power plug. This worked well with my Xbox , bought an extra one for the Ps4

This hard drive has more than enough space for what I needed it for. Works exactly as it should, and has fast transfer speeds.

With 5 TB worth of space, there's a lot I can fit in. It is also easy to use (lots of dragging and dropping) once it is installed and moves files over pretty quickly. However, it does take some time to move larger files.

The Seagate Backup Plus 5TB external harddrive is a must have for anyone who needs lots of storage space to store and backup their files. This HDD is very easy to use and works with both MAC and Windows.

Great storage capacity. The operating software could use a little more explanation.

Make sure to do a chkdsk /r to fix any issues before using it --- it takes approximately 19 hours to run and no drive maker today does this at the factory; if they did, the price of the drives would probably increase by $20/unit because they would need to plug the millions of drives they manufacture individually into computers and run chkdsk. Also, look at this video on how to increase the speed of your drive -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=4Sae9wL_008 The reason they set the drive to a SLOW default speed is so you can quickly unplug it without using the Safely Remove Hardware notification icon. After you change the setting per the video, the drive is rocket fast. The only time it slowed down is when I copied 1 folder with 40,000 small files to it. I like this drive so much that I plan to purchase another one.

This works great. I needed more storage on my Xbox One and this worked awesomely. This was cheaper than the one Microsoft puts out and works the same

Great drive for portable expansion of storage. Small form factor and USB 3.0 speeds make it great for storage and quick access of video, photo, and other large file types. I haven't yet speed tested transfer rates but have had no problem transferring in excess of 3TB of data to and from the drives in less that 10 hour period. I use this connected to my NetGear NAS for additional storage capacity and quick grab and go storage. I looked at many different 5TB drives before deciding to go with Seagate. I now own multiple of these and they are all great.

I like this external hard drive. I got tired of bulky electronics so I bought one of these some time ago. Well as of this review this review is for number four. I now own four of these and they have operated flawlessly. They have a very fast transfer rate from the computer to the external hard drive. I know there are ways to speed them up even further but I personally choose not too. I like the small foot print. I wish they had even more storage space. I can hardly wait until Seagate makes them with even a larger storage space. I recommend that people buy these when they go on sale. I have been buying them for awhile now and the price has gone down considerably. Buy them when they are just over $100.00. Also make sure and price match as competitors have them cheaper sometimes. Best Buy has been very good with me concerning this. I want to make sure that people know when I have two of these plugged into my laptop one on either side and transfer data from one drive to another through my laptop that the data transfers very, very slowly. I generally start them up and make sure the laptop is on battery back up and let them go. I have never had a problem with transferring data at all though. Everything transfers well. I strictly use these drives for storage and that is about it. Finally, they say they are 5 terabytes but they are more like 4 and change. More like 4.5 or something like that. I will keep people updated on here. I have two of these that are almost out of warranty and that will be the true test on how long they will last or how well they are made when the warranty runs out.

It is a great product with compact size and easy to handle. External power cable is also not required like the older ones. It is easy to connect as well as set up and I am also happy with the fast transfer time.

t is a quality product, handy to use and the most reliable. The speed of transferring files is pretty good even with the big files and it performs better than other hard drives with lot of storage space.

You can not beat 5tb of storage space for under $150. USB support is 3.1 and plenty fast. I have owned plenty of these drives and have had no issues. The key to longevity is to disconnect them correctly through applications instead of just unplugging them. I have used for for Windows and MAC systems and work great. Excellent portable back drive that does not require an external power source.
