Shabaam Sahdeeq - Precious Stones - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2020 . Shabazz Palaces' Black Up, the group's Sub Pop debut, was recently hailed as one of the best albums of the decade by outlets like Pitchfork, Gorilla Vs Bear, and Variety. Pitchfork summed it up thusly InchBlack Up is drowned in murky instrumentals and bombastic, introspective rhymes. The sounds flirt with jazz but also root themselves in a firm understanding of silence, or the sparse magic of simplicity. The songs teem with unexpected climaxes... From great mystery exploded an album of impossible vision.Inch That Inchimpossible visionInch has continued to confound and engage Shabazz Palaces fans over the course of four acclaimed albums and two EPs. Each feels like an evolution, letting the music speak for itself, while slowly revealing more about it's creator. With The Don of Diamond Dreams, the group's fifth album, that spirit remains, this time embracing modernism in hip-hop and rap. Featuring 10 tracks in 43 minutes, the album features the highlights InchFast Learner (ft. Purple Tape Nate),Inch InchChocolate Souffle,Inch InchBad B*tch Walking (ft. Stas THEE Boss), and InchThanking The Girls.Inch It also features contributions from singer/keyboardist Darrius Willrich, Seattle's OCnotes (who collaborated with Shabazz leader Ishmael Butler on the Knife Knights project), Los Angeles musician Carlos Overall, and bassist Evan Flory-Barnes. On March 29, 2024, Shabazz Palaces' two new mini-albums, Robed in Rareness and Exotic Birds of Prey, come out on CD and LP. Shabazz Palaces is masterminded by Ishmael Butler (Digable Planets), whose relentless drive to reimagine hip-hop - even as he enjoys his fifth decade on Earth - remains undiminished. When Robed in Rareness hit digital platforms in 2023, NPR Music called it Inchenchanting and subversive, Inch while Pitchfork observed that Inchthe futurism of Shabazz Palaces has always been interwoven with the past and present, their songs scintillating tapestries of old-school S**t talk, proggy psychedelia, and melodic flossing. Robed in Rareness is draped in this multiplicity as Butler and a team of close collaborators swagger across eras of rap.Inch Album Tracks 1. Binoculars (Feat. Royce the Choice) 2. Woke Up in a Dream (Feat. Lil Tracy) 3. P Kicking G (Feat. Porter Ray) 4. Cinnamon Bun (Feat. Lavarr the Starr) 5. Scarface Mace (Feat. O Finess) 6. Gel Bait (Feat. Geechi Suede) 7. Hustle Crossers

Coming from a simpler, more essential, innocent place, the hero could not make heads nor tails of most advancements. From an aerial view, he saw that a good percentage of earthly vibrations were on very small squares and it became his belief that this world was very disposable and the spans short. His opinion was not of anything good nor bad but simply the truth. The machines-he noted-though at the behest of their master's voice, are scorned, and jealous as all hell. And so the tale is told while surfing on the board of Shabazz Palaces, with it's sturdy base angled for takeoff on a new trajectory. There is new blood and space and room to be different and have different assets and different art and different ways to talk and also open up some space inside to do something new. There are pages and there are drawings, and color and faces and inked dialogues written in ancient futuristic hieroglyph. There are scales and there is melody and there are Sunny days and there is Darkness, but that-it should be noted-to the Palaceer is not a lack of illumination or brightness. Maybe it is dark, but in it is always optimism and joy, a bright darkness and a full, hopeful one as well. Album Tracks 1. Welcome to Quazarz 2. Gorgeous Sleeper Cell 3. Self-Made Follownaire 4.
