Pros: - 4K 120fps in All-Intra via S&Q Mode - Unbeatable 12MP Full-Frame Sensor in low light - Dull Native ISO at 12,800 - SLOG3 support - Dual CF Express slots - New Menu System - Durable Build Quality - Loads of Customizable Buttons - Holds Re-sale value Cons: - Virtually nonexistent Firmware Updates - Steep price at $3,200, considering upcoming options - Lack of RAW recording options - Color science can be weird at times While this camera was a no-brainer four years ago, the current offerings from Nikon and Panasonic with RAW recording and frequent firmware updates, including ARRI log, along with Nikon's acquisition of RED, make me hesitant to recommend this camera. Despite previously owning it multiple times, I ended up reselling it each time. Presently, I am using a BMPCC 6K Pro because of BRAW. RAW codecs are the future, and this camera's lack of updates might relegate it to a novelty collector's item in 2-3 years. I recommend the Nikon Z8 over the Sony A7S3 now.

Best mirrorless video camera on the market!

The absolute best low light camera I've ever used. Even at higher iso, the clarity beats any Canon I've ever used. The video is smooth and clean. Rolling shutter is basically non existent. The color is much more natural straight out of camera, and while not as neutral as Canon, I almost like it better. The new menu and flip out screen changes EVERYTHING! 10/10. I'll have this camera for many years to come.

Beast of a camera!

Spectacular camera. I bought it to shoot videos and wasn't expecting the photos to be any good, honestly, but even the quality of the pictures are incredible. Of course when you crop it doesn't look as good as the original because of the low MP count, but to me that's not a problem. I've been shooting Canon for a while and it amazed me how sharp the image of the sony is. Definitely recommend if you want a beast of a camera for low light shooting and amazing dynamic range.

Incredible!!!! Camera

First off I’m coming from a a7iii so moving down to 12 mp I was pretty worried but let me tell you unless you are doing heavy cropping this camera is insane it takes even better low light photos, so on the photography side of things don’t worry because this camera is delivers. Now for video this camera is mind blowing and most importantly the reliability is a must have for me and it doesn’t disappoint, also being able to charge the camera with a usb c to a power bank is awesome. 9 outa 10 for me.

An Absolute Beast

This camera is everything I've dreamed of as a content creating video machine. I run a YouTube channel and my old A7III and A6600 always had limitations. The A7SIII just does EVERYTHING and it does everything well. Never overheats even when shooting 4K 120P. The stabilization with "Active" turned on is really good... This camera is just mind blowing. Working with the XAVC-I footage is a breeze even on a mid-grade laptop. If you're on the fence about buying something cheaper like an A7III... I'd save up and get the A7SIII. It's going to be my workhorse for years to come

Best Vlogging camera ever…!!!

I really loved it especially the video quality and the vlogging camera style. The low light performance is out of this world at 12,000+ ISO. I like the flip screen a lot. I just wished the camera was as crisp as the Sony A1. It does heat up when recording at 4K and shuts off the camera but there is a work around this issue in the settings.

The camera has a function that allows you to record longer before it shuts down to prevent overheating. To activate this function, go to MENU → (Setup) → (Power Setting Option) → (Auto Power OFF Temp.) then set it to High. If the camera still overheats after setting this function, please contact our phone support at 239-245-6360 so we can troubleshoot further.

Best camera for wedding videography. I use 3 of these for my wedding business. The low light performance and dynamic range is amazing. Slog-3 is awesome and there’s so much room for color grading when shooting in 10 bit 4:2:2. The files are so easy to work with.

It’s such a good camera it’s basically cheating. Which I’m okay with, makes my job easy. It’s weather sealed, so filming rally cars on course in the rain, dust, heat, and snow is just fine.

The last 4K video camera you will ever need

4K120, 10 bit recording, amazing autofocus, insane low light performance. I'd bet you already know it excels at doing those things. However there are a lot of other features of this camera that you should also be aware of. The image quality is beautiful. Combined with the 13 stops of dynamic range and the ability to record in 10 bit, with a little bit of color grading everything that comes out this camera looks gorgeous. It has a very filmic look vs the digital oversharpness of most of these types of cameras. The sensor readout speed is below 9ms. What this means is that you will almost never see the "jello" effect when you whip pan the camera. This really makes a difference, and can by itself mean the difference between cheap looking footage and professional looking footage. This camera stands alone in its ability to do this when compared with its competition. It never overheats or freezes. I do long form 4K recording in the hot Florida sun, sometimes for over two hours. This feature was vital to me and one of the main reasons I bought the camera. I am happy to report that it lives up to the hype in this regard. The viewfinder is another win for this camera. It's super high resolution with a large magnification. Makes it so easy to nail focus or check your footage. I could never go back to a lesser viewfinder after using this one. The "only" 12MP photos are more than adequate. It just means you can't crop as much. I actually enjoy taking pictures with this thing. You can easily print 5x7s or larger and never know they were taken at 12MP. The stabilization is pretty good but not the best. If you turn on active stabilization and pair it with a Sony lens then you will get nearly the performance of a GH5. My Tamron zooms however seem a little more jittery. You can use Catalyst Browse software to stabilize the footage later on your PC. This works extremely well, but it's an extra time consuming step, and perhaps worse...it only outputs in 8 bit unless you pay a monthly fee for Catalyst Prepare. No thanks. My other complaint is that this camera hasn't received many updates despite it being two years old. Maybe bring focus breathing compensation and anti-flicker to this camera like the A7IV has. Would be nice. All in all though I've never been this satisfied with a camera. It's a joy to shoot with and the footage that comes out of it competes with cameras many times its price. It's extremely reliable and even more powerful. If you need a camera that excels at 4K recording, and especially if you are already in the Sony ecosystem, this is it.

A True Video Powerhouse — Built for Creators

I love this thing. The Sony A7S III is a pure video workhorse — designed with filmmakers and content creators in mind. The image quality, color science, and low-light performance are incredible, and it handles 4K 120fps effortlessly with no overheating. The autofocus is fast and reliable, and the menu system is much more intuitive than older Sony cameras. While it can take great photos, this camera really shines in video production. It’s perfect for weddings, events, interviews, and cinematic projects. If your focus is video work, this is one of the best cameras you can own.
