    • Image Sensor Size: 35mm Full Frame (36 x 24 mm)
    • Effective Pixels: 12.1 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
    • Standardized Video Resolution: 4K (2160p) (An approximated measurement of the product’s video resolution. This may not be the exact resolution of the product, which may be slightly more or less when using a pixel-by-pixel measurement.)
  • General
    • Brand: Sony
    • Model Number: ILCE7SM3/B
    • Product Name: Alpha 7S III Full-frame Mirrorless Camera (Body Only)
    • Color: Black
    • Camera Model Family: Sony a7S
    • Digital Camera Type: Mirrorless Camera Body Only
  • Imaging
    • Image Sensor Type: CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Image Sensor Size: 35mm Full Frame (36 x 24 mm)
    • Total Pixels: 13 megapixels (Generally, the more pixels, the higher the image resolution and the finer the detail that can be seen.)
    • Image Resolution (Display): 4240 x 2832 (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, used to either capture an image or display it. The higher the resolution the finer the image details.)
    • Zoom Capability: false (This function allows for magnification of the subject.)
    • Digital Zoom: None (A digital zoom is accomplished electronically, with no adjustment of the camera's optics, and no optical resolution gained in the process. The existing data is not enhanced or added to, merely displayed at a lower resolution, thereby giving an illusion of an enlarged image.)
    • In-Camera Image Stabilization: true (This feature helps reduce image blurring from camera motion. In-camera stabilization means the image sensor itself moves to counteract detected motion.)
    • Low Light/High Sensitivity: true (High sensitivity digital imaging devices are designed to work in low light conditions to produce a high dynamic range image.)
    • Image File Format(s): JPEG, RAW (Standardized software format(s) of storing digital images. The type of format chosen for capturing and compressing the image can determine quality, level of detail, and storage space required.)
  • Focus
    • Autofocus: true (Allows the camera to automatically focus through the lens, rather than by adjusting the lens manually.)
    • Eye Autofocus (Eye AF): true (Automatically seeks out and focuses on the subject's eye and holds it as the camera and subject move and as the photographer shoots at high frame rates.)
  • Exposure Control
    • Shutter Speeds: 1/8000 (The length of time the shutter remains open when the shutter release is activated, expressed in fractions of seconds. The longer the shutter is open, the more light that is able to be captured by the camera sensor.)
    • Brightness Control: true (Allows the camera to adjust the brightness of a captured image for optimal exposure.)
    • Burst Mode: true (Also referred to as continuous shooting. This feature captures multiple shots in rapid succession.)
    • Burst Rate: 60 frames per second
    • Self Timer: true
    • Shooting Modes: Auto, Manual, Programmed AE, Aperture priority, Shutter-speed priority, Slow & Quick Motion (Exposure modes employed by the photographer to control the optimal aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and other settings for capturing specific subjects/scenes. Examples include Aperture-Priority, Macro, and Manual modes.)
    • Panorama Mode: false
    • Scene Modes: Auto, Programmed AE, Aperture priority, Shutter-speed priority, Manual, Movie, Slow and quick motion (Exposure modes with predetermined optimal settings for capturing specific scenes. Examples include Landcape, Portrait, and Sports modes.)
    • White Balance Modes: Auto, Daylight, Shade, Cloudy, Incandescent, Fluorescent, Flash, Underwater, Color Temerature, Color Filter, Custom (Settings that calibrates how the color white is rendered in an image/video, reducing the appearance of unnatural contrasts caused by various light sources.)
    • Effective Pixels: 12.1 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • Lens
    • Lens Mount Compatibility: Sony E-Mount (Full-Frame)
    • In-Lens Image Stabilization: false (This feature helps reduce image blurring from camera motion. Lens stabilization means an element within the lens moves automatically to counteract detected motion.)
  • Flash
    • Integrated Flash: false
  • Display
    • Display Type: LCD
    • Screen Size: 3 inches (Size of the screen, measured diagonally from corner to corner.)
    • Viewfinder Type: Electronic (A viewfinder is the part of a camera (or attachment) that allows you to see and focus a scene in frame. Optical viewfinders let you view the scene directly through the lens. Electronic viewfinders display the image on a screen in its approximate final form.)
    • Touch Screen: true (Touch-screen devices make navigating more intuitive. Using a touch-screen display, you can do things such as tap to select, hold and drag to move items, swipe to scroll, and pinch to zoom.)
    • Varying Angle Screen: true (The camera's screen can be flipped out and adjusted to rotate, tilt, and/or swivel.)
  • Video
    • Standardized Video Resolution: 4K (2160p) (An approximated measurement of the product’s video resolution. This may not be the exact resolution of the product, which may be slightly more or less when using a pixel-by-pixel measurement.)
    • Video Resolution(s) and Frame Rate(s): 4K (2160p) video recording at 40 fps (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, and the frame rate used to capture the video. The higher the resolution the finer the video detail that can be seen. The faster the frame rate the smoother the playback for higher motion activities like sports.)
    • Maximum Video Frame Rate: Up to 240 fps (The maximum frequency at which consecutive images can be captured by a video recording device.)

A: The camera has a 3-inch, flip-out, vari-angle LCD monitor with touch menu and controls.

Q: Does this camera have image stabilization?

A: Yes, this camera has in-camera image stabilization.

Q: Has anyone received there a7siii through best buy? I was told to order it on the 24th at 12am or 9am and it has been sold out the entire time and best buy has no idea when they will be getting them again.

A: Best Buy canceled my preorder too. I called BB customer service about the issue which was a total waste of time. Customer service workers at BB are clueless and not helpful at all. The answer I got from the BB rep was “What do you want me to do”. I don’t think BB shipped any a7s III preordered cameras. They allowed people to preorder then started canceling their orders on Sony’s annouced shipping date.

Q: Good for feet pics?

A: Hello! I would say if your going to use this to only publish to the web then this would work for photos of feet but I would go with a cheaper full frame camera like the a7iii. Now if you are going to shoot video of feet lit only by moonlight this the absolutely the camera you want!

Q: Where’s it made?

A: The camera is manufactured in Thailand.

Tempting When Discounted. Don't Buy Now.

Pros: - 4K 120fps in All-Intra via S&Q Mode - Unbeatable 12MP Full-Frame Sensor in low light - Dull Native ISO at 12,800 - SLOG3 support - Dual CF Express slots - New Menu System - Durable Build Quality - Loads of Customizable Buttons - Holds Re-sale value Cons: - Virtually nonexistent Firmware Updates - Steep price at $3,200, considering upcoming options - Lack of RAW recording options - Color science can be weird at times While this camera was a no-brainer four years ago, the current offerings from Nikon and Panasonic with RAW recording and frequent firmware updates, including ARRI log, along with Nikon's acquisition of RED, make me hesitant to recommend this camera. Despite previously owning it multiple times, I ended up reselling it each time. Presently, I am using a BMPCC 6K Pro because of BRAW. RAW codecs are the future, and this camera's lack of updates might relegate it to a novelty collector's item in 2-3 years. I recommend the Nikon Z8 over the Sony A7S3 now.

Best mirrorless video camera on the market!

The absolute best low light camera I've ever used. Even at higher iso, the clarity beats any Canon I've ever used. The video is smooth and clean. Rolling shutter is basically non existent. The color is much more natural straight out of camera, and while not as neutral as Canon, I almost like it better. The new menu and flip out screen changes EVERYTHING! 10/10. I'll have this camera for many years to come.

    Beast of a camera!

Spectacular camera. I bought it to shoot videos and wasn't expecting the photos to be any good, honestly, but even the quality of the pictures are incredible. Of course when you crop it doesn't look as good as the original because of the low MP count, but to me that's not a problem. I've been shooting Canon for a while and it amazed me how sharp the image of the sony is. Definitely recommend if you want a beast of a camera for low light shooting and amazing dynamic range.
