This M.2 NGFF SATA Enclosure with a USB-C plug worked perfectly for me! My work laptop had a problem, and I could no longer boot the laptop. I ordered this in the hope of pulling the M.2 drive and getting off any data that isn’t in my auto backup folders before the drive would be reformatted. It was perfect. Super easy to just unscrew the one screw holding it on the motherboard and rescrew it onto the little adapter board they give you. Then plug in the cable to the board and your USB-C port in your functioning computer. Reads just like an external drive and is super fast to read or write. I included photos of the M.2 drive I used next to the adapter, so you can see the required connections, and I also included one with the M.2 drive sitting on the laptop motherboard just before slipping it back in afterwards, so you can compare what yours looks like.

Unfortunately, what looked like an implied compatibility with my M.2 2280 drive proved to be an incorrect assumption. While the installation is simple, the enclosure isn't compatible with NVMe drives, and as such I cannot provide a review of how effective the enclosure is. Only purchase this enclosure if you need to mount an original Next Gen Form Factor (NGFF) M.2 SSD. I am not recommending this enclosure simply because NGFF is not longer a common offering.

Had a laptop that unexpectedly died and could not get some of the more recent/not backed up data off the laptop. This encloser worked great for accessing the solid state drive of the old laptop to recover the files I needed. And it doubles now as a nice external USB and storage drive which is an added bonus. Very easy to put together and use; the provided instructions are straightforward and easy to follow. Note: You will need a small screwdriver to open up the enclosure and mount the solid state drive to the device.

Very high quality and well made drive enclosure. Included cable is are high quality and fast speed USB 3.1. Easy to install the M.2 form factor SSD into the enclosure.

Nice little M.2 enclosure. Its designed to make your own portable SSD. I was hoping it was more of a quick enclosure that you could just quick swap m.2 into for memory recovery, but this is meant more as a semi-permanent solution to make your own usb ssd. That aside, its very simple, just plug it in via usb-c and it mounts like any other hard drive.

The case is solidly built and functions perfectly. If your need is use for one solid state drive only then this is ideal. However, if you plan on swapping drive in and out then this is not for you. The many tiny screws are easy to loose and put in and take out.

I returned this item. It would not read a Samsung 980 PRO drive. Probably works fine for other drives. Mounting screw for drive is rather small. Screw should have more threads to catch when you tighten.

When I purchased this, I read the description, but I didn't look at the one photo of the box. The box was the ONLY place that mentioned that this is for SATA drives which is not what I needed. I give credit to Best Buy for making the return very easy. Since I didn't use it, I can't rate it on Quality or Ease of Use.

As stated in the description this enclosure will only support a m.2 b-key. I used this to put my old m.2 in so I could boot to it and transfer everything over to my new NVMe drive. Worked perfect for what I needed.

Very useful for my old laptop hard drive. It is a B+M connector type and it worked like a charm. Main sticking point is that the USB connector is USB C. Lucky that my laptop had a USB C connector or I would have been out of a drive.

I hardly could find an external enclosure for a small laptop SSD card.

Great way to use extra SSDs and get extra, fast, external, reliable storage!

User error - I bought these for NVME PCI 3x SSD but the are for NGFF M.2 - I'm sure they would have been great, but I didn't read the description correctly so had to return them.

Working as described. Be aware this unit does not work with PCIe SSDs, only for SATA interface.

My son said it worked well. Hold battery life. No complaints.
