About This Item

Live at Montreux 1982 & 1985 is a live album by Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, released in 2001. It features two full sets from the Montreux Jazz Festival, recorded in 1982 and 1985. Stevie Ray Vaughan's 1982 performance at Montreux was one of the most pivotal moments in his career. At that time, he was an unknown Texas blues guitarist trying to make a name for himself. However, the audience, which was expecting a more traditional jazz or fusion act, was not very receptive-many actually booed the band during the set. Despite this, David Bowie and Jackson Browne were in the audience and were impressed by Vaughan's playing. This led to Vaughan playing guitar on Bowie's InchLet's DanceInch album and a recording opportunity with Browne, which helped launch his career. By 1985, Stevie Ray Vaughan was a blues-rock superstar, and his return to Montreux was met with a completely different reaction-this time, he was celebrated and received with standing ovations. Album Tracks 1. Hide Away 2. Rude Mood 3. Pride and Joy 4. Texas Flood 5. Love Struck Baby 6. Dirty Pool 7. Give Me Back My Wig 8. Collins' Shuffle 9. Scuttle Buttin' 10. Say What! 11. Ain't Gone 'N' Give Up on Love 12. Pride and Joy 13. Mary Had a Little Lamb 14. Tin Pan Alley (Aka Roughest Place in Town) (With Johnny Copeland) 15. Voodoo Child (Slight Return) 16. Texas Flood 17. Life Without You 18. Gone Home 19. Couldn't Stand the Weather
