Prolific and constantly evolving, Portland, OR's STRFKR have continued to music that consistently connects with music lovers all over the globe. Their work ethic both in the studio and on the road has kept them on a steady climb, consistently playing venues on the level of legendary rooms like Terminal 5, Stubb's, and the 9 30 Club while using any available downtime to work towards the next recording. On their latest full-length album, Parallel Realms, STRFKR embrace a more pop-forward approach as heard on their recent single InchRunning Around,Inch while also hinting at experimentalism and the gentler textures on 2020's heralded, Future Past Life. New pink vinyl variant of the 2013 album. It's hard to say exactly when it happened. It could've been during one of the 100+ shows STRFKR played in past two years - ecstatic sold-out dance parties that started in tiny, sweaty rooms before word of mouth spread and forced a move to larger (and even sweatier) venues. It might've been when touring guitarist Patrick Morris officially became a full-time member in late 2011, rounding out a line-up that included multi-instrumentalists Josh Hodges, Shawn Glassford, and Keil Corcoran. Most likely, though, there wasn't a single defining moment when the change occurred. With evolution there rarely is. Instead, progression happens naturally and steadily - each step leading inevitably to the next until you reach a point when you realize how far you've come without even being fully aware of how you got there. In early 2012, during a rare break in the group's touring schedule, Hodges retreated to secluded Astoria, Oregon. But this time, rather than completely isolating himself to work on new material (as had always been the case in the past), Hodges invited the other members to visit often and truly collaborate in the process of writing STRFKR's third full-length, Miracle Mile. And so it was that STRFKR became a band.As a result, whether participating in all-night lyric writing sessions, fleshing out song skeletons originally conceived during European soundchecks (InchMalmoInch) and long van rides (InchLeave It All BehindInch), or completing half-finished ideas kicking around Hodges' brain and hard drive, there isn't a single song on Miracle Mile that every member of STRFKR didn't contribute to and ultimately improve. For proof, look no further than first single and opening track InchWhile I'm Alive,Inch a song that bursts out of the gate with what can only be described as swagger. Not overconfidence or false bravado, but the undeniab
Purple & Blue Eco Mix Vinyl. On Reptilians, STRFKR's second full-length album and first for long-time tag home Polyvinyl, the band built on what they had accomplished with their self-titled debut album (2008) and the the Jupiter EP (2009) to create an infectious combination of acoustic instrumentation and electronic production. Originally released on March 8, 2011, Reptilians has since become one of the band's most intriguing and successful releases to date. Featuring fan favorites InchBury Us AliveInch and InchJulius, Inch Reptilians was written almost entirely by principal songwriter Joshua Hodges with help from bandmates Shawn Glassford, Keil Corcoran, and long time friend Randy Bemrose. The band mixed with Jacob Portrait in the famed Portland studio The Odditorium. Lyrically, the album focuses primarily on death and the end of the world, two subjects intertwined at the forefront of Hodges' mind following the passing of his grandmother. To celebrate it's 10-year anniversary, Reptilians will be released as a remastered deluxe reissue (2xLP) with 4 bonus tracks and reimagined artwork by original artist Sohale Kevin Darouian.
