About this product

His album by violinist Christian Tetzlaff and cellist Tanja Tetzlaff together with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin conducted by Paavo Järvi, is dedicated in the memory of their longtime artistic partner, pianist Lars Vogt (1970-2022). At the heart of this album is Brahms, one of Lars Vogt's favourite composers, and his late orchestral masterpiece, the Double Concerto. Brahms himself had admired one of Viotti's violin concertos so much that he included material from the violin concerto into his work. With Christian Tetzlaff's recording of the violin concerto, this album finally brings these two works together. Also included is Dvorák's beautiful Silent Woods for cello and orchestra, a work by another composer that was very close to Lars Vogt's heart. Album Tracks 1. Double Concerto for Violin and Cello in A minor, Op. 102~I. Allegro 2. Double Concerto for Violin and Cello in A minor, Op. 102~II. Andante 3. Double Concerto for Violin and Cello in A minor, Op. 102~III. Vivace non troppo 4. Violin Concerto No. 22 in A minor, G. 97~I. Moderato 5. Violin Concerto No. 22 in A minor, G. 97~II. Adagio 6. Violin Concerto No. 22 in A minor, G. 97~III. Agitato assai 7. Silent Woods (Waldesruhe) for Cello and Orchestra, Op. 68 No. 5

Eagulls - Ullages - VINYL LP

Vinyl LP pressing includes digital download. Whilst Eagulls' debut album was a juggernaut of a record, often moving at breakneck speed and intensity, it was also a deeply melodic one and underneath the heady fuzz and gushing charge of the guitars laid a band with just as many pop leanings as they had punk. It's these moments that have been brought to the surface on the new record dense, deeply textured explorations that recall the shimmering opulence of the Cocteau Twins and the ominous gloom of The Smiths and Disintegration/Pornography-era The Cure. Recorded during long days and nights in a converted Leeds Catholic church with returning producer Matt Peel before the album was sent to London to be mixed by Craig Silvey (Portishead, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, R.E.M), it's as refreshing as it is exhilarating to hear Eagulls' Ullages as they continue to forge a fierce and prominent British voice in the world of music. This record is every bit as dazzling as it's predecessor but it comes along with that most rare and treasured quality of being so in a way that feels new, whilst simultaneously remaining in the existing character and tone of the band. Never has the term 'sophomore slump' been kicked so mercilessly to death as by Eagulls on this album. Album Tracks 1. Heads or Tails 4 49 2. Euphoria 4 51 3. My Life in Rewind 5 33 4. Rachel Podger - Mozart: Violin Sonatas Fragment Completions - SUPER-AUDIO CD [Super Audio CD (SACD)]

Among the many instrumental pieces that remained incomplete at Mozart's death there were four particularly beautiful fragments for violin and piano. Timothy Jones has made multiple new completions of these fragments based on Mozart's evolving style during the 1780s, exploring the open-endedness of the fragments and the different directions the music might have taken. Rachel Podger and Christopher Glynn present the world premiere recordings, which include two completions of each Sonata fragment, enabling listeners to take alternative journeys through Mozart's material. Details 1. Mozart Fragment of a Sonata in B Flat for Piano and Violin FR 1782C, Jones Completion 3 2. Mozart Fragment of a Sonata in a for Piano and Violin FR 1784B, Jones Completion 4 3.
