I’m so happy with this TV. It sticks the landing on every feature I was looking for, and balances perfectly the price with the capabilities for gaming, movies, and shows and looks fantastic. The colors are vibrant and rich, the panel is crisp and produces deep blacks with the full array mini led local dimming and super bright 3000 nit HDR, and best of all the software suite functions fast and just works, free of lag and drama. For its size, it is lightweight and was relatively easy to get mounted and setup. It is well packaged and includes a center mounted stand and the remote and power cable. I did not need the stand as I was replacing an older TV that was already wall mounted but this one gratefully almost perfectly matched the mounting location and VESA 600 x 400 spec which made the swap super convenient. After a quick setup, some updates, and signing into my Google account to get Gemini and the Google TV apps working it was off to the races. Right out of the box it looks perfect to me, and I only changed a few sounds settings for my AV receiver and game mode settings for my consoles. It is smooth, VRR works flawlessly on my Xbox Series X, and playing Forza Horizon 6 on this big, bright smooth screen is an awesome experience. Dark movies look fantastic, as it produces clean blacks with no blooming issues and has high enough contrast to make everything pop even on challenging space epics such as Interstellar. It works with my Google home and Apple HomeKit services allowing me to power it on and change inputs or volume from the Apple home app or view my Nest cameras directly on the screen. It has all the built-in streaming apps you might expect, such as Disney+, HBO, Amazon, Netflix and more. From a hardware perspective, there are 4 HDMI ports, the first two support 144hz VRR, the 3rd is still 2.1 but doesn’t have the higher refresh rate, and the last is the HDMI-eARC port which I have connected to my receiver for surround sound. The onboard speakers are Bang Olufsen and sound great for TV speakers. Using eARC to my Denon receiver passes through a high-quality Dolby signal and has improved my sound system overall compared to the previous screen I was using. It has WiFi and Ethernet, and a couple USB ports as well. The remote is simple but functional and uses both IR and Bluetooth for controlling the TV. I’m incredibly impressed and thrilled with the way this screen looks, and how well it works. It is the total package at a terrific value and even gives my smaller OLEDs a run for their money on overall screen quality. I absolutely recommend it.

TCL - 85" Class QM7L Series 4K UHD HDR SQD-Mini LED Smart TV with Google TV is a great TV. The number one thing to understand is that this TV is freaking massive! In a good way, of course. Number two thing to understand is that it really isn’t that heavy. I was able to place the stand on the TV and place it on the TV stand without an issue. The setup was very easy; the longest part of the setup was waiting for the updates to take place. Naturally, like all updates, they take their sweet time. However, once the updates were completed, it was time to stream all of my favorite shows from my favorite streaming services, which, by the way, already come preloaded onto the TV. So say by to all of the exterior devices that you needed to have plugged into your tv previously. The sound quality is very good, so good in fact, I did not realize my sound bar was not on. The vibrant colors of the TV are spectacular. The fact that the TV can automatically switch to game mode for me when I switch it to Xbox makes it that much better. Overall, so far, I am very happy with the TV.

I have had a 65" TV mounted inside a recessed wall space for about eight years, and I never seriously considered moving to an 85" screen. Part of that was practical: it simply would not fit in the recess. The other part was assumption. I did not think a larger screen would meaningfully improve the viewing experience. After having the opportunity to test the TCL 85" QM7L at home, I was wrong. Sitting on the stand in front of my existing wall-mounted 65" panel, the QM7L absolutely dwarfs it. At first, it looks almost forced into the room. It is a towering presence, and you are immediately aware of the size. Then you put on the right content, sit at a proper distance, and the whole thing starts to make sense. Unboxing was easier than expected for something this large. The packaging was sturdy, the panel arrived without damage, and the box design lets the top lift away rather than forcing you to fight the TV straight upward. That said, getting it onto a stand or mount is absolutely a two-person job unless you have an eight-foot wingspan. The weight is manageable, but the size and fragility are the real concern. A careless twist or corner impact would end badly very quickly. My room is roughly 14.5 feet deep and 16 feet wide, with my main viewing position about 10.5 feet from the screen. That distance ended up being ideal. The image is large enough to feel immersive, but not so large that it becomes uncomfortable. The TV is not recessed into anything either, which helps it breathe a little visually. It sits slightly forward from the wall, and once I stopped comparing it to the old recessed setup, it looked surprisingly natural in the space. Viewing angles were better than I expected. I have a wraparound couch, and even from a side position around 35 to 45 degrees off center, the image held up well. Dead center is still the best position because the perspective is more natural, but I did not see the washout or color shift I expected from a large panel. In normal use, every seat on the couch felt usable. Reflection handling was another strong point. I have blinds behind the seating area that usually create annoying daytime reflections. With this TCL, the reflections were there if I looked for them, but they were not distracting during actual viewing. I noticed glare on the outer bezel before I noticed it on the screen itself, which says a lot. I tested each HDMI input with mixed results. For my setup, the eARC input gave me the best overall experience with my Denon receiver. I did try one of the higher-refresh inputs, but my home theater PC still would not expose anything above 60Hz. That may be a limitation somewhere in my PC, receiver, cable path, settings, or HDMI handshaking, so I am not putting that entirely on the TV. Given the lack of 144Hz material in my actual use and what seemed like better audio behavior through eARC, I stayed with the 60Hz ceiling and kept the rest of my AV system in place. With high-quality 4K content, this TV looks excellent. I streamed large 4K files from my NAS, including Top Gun: Maverick and F1, and the QM7L had the clarity, brightness, motion, and scale that make an 85" screen feel justified. This is where it stops feeling like “a bigger TV” and starts feeling more like a living room theater display. It also makes source quality very obvious. I tested some 1080p content, including Edge of Tomorrow, and while it was still watchable, the difference between that and a strong 4K source was easy to see. I do not consider that a flaw. A screen this large and capable is going to show the quality of what it is being fed. Great sources look great. Weaker or more compressed sources look like weaker or more compressed sources. Sports may have been my favorite test. I am a big Spurs fan and watched a lot of playoff basketball on this set, including the Western Conference Finals. I have been to games and sat everywhere from near the scorer’s table and bench area to the upper sections, so I have a pretty good sense of what different arena views feel like. Sitting about 10.5 feet from this screen with my Klipsch 5.1 system running felt surprisingly close to a mid-level arena view. It obviously does not replace being there, but the scale, clarity, motion, and sound made basketball feel genuinely enveloping. Gaming was also better than expected once Game Mode was enabled. Without it, I noticed input lag from my home theater PC. With Game Mode on, the TV felt much more responsive. I played Final Fantasy XIV at 2560x1440 and 60Hz, including busy areas like Limsa, and the experience was smooth, comfortable, and immersive. I also tried a few lighter Steam games, and those were simply fun at this size. The audio side is worth mentioning because an 85" image really deserves more than thin built-in sound. I used a Denon receiver with a Klipsch 5.1 surround setup, and the combination made movies, sports, and games feel much more complete. With a screen this large, the sound system becomes part of the visual experience. My main criticism is the screen coating. With the TV off, I can see a prismatic reflection effect across the panel, almost like faint rainbow-like beams or lines that shift depending on room lighting and viewing position. With bright content, I rarely noticed it. With darker content, especially during the day, it could become visible enough to be distracting. It does not ruin the TV, but it is the one visual drawback I consistently noticed. My other frustration is not really TCL’s fault. A display this large makes inconsistent source quality harder to ignore. We have TVs capable of excellent 4K presentation, yet movies, streaming services, and live broadcasts still vary wildly in what they actually deliver. When the QM7L gets a clean, high-quality source, it shines. When it does not, the TV is honest enough to show that too. Overall, the TCL 85" QM7L changed my mind about whether an 85" screen could add something meaningful to my living room. It is big, bright, immersive, better off-axis than expected, and excellent with quality 4K material. It handled my bright room well, made playoff basketball feel huge, and turned PC gaming into a more enveloping experience even at 60Hz. The prismatic glare on darker content is my main complaint, and source quality matters a lot at this size. But when the QM7L is fed good material, it delivers a convincing living room theater experience that made my long-standing 65" setup feel smaller than I expected.

This TV is huge! I've been using a 65" in my living room for the past few years, and while I felt it was big enough, I had always wanted to go a bit bigger. Having this 85" TCL now makes our living room almost feel like a movie theater. Pros: - I appreciated how easy it was to set up this smart TV. After booting up the TV for the first time I was able to scan a QR code on the screen and my phone automatically paired the TV to my Google account. You can then select your favorite apps to download and install and we were up and running within 15 minutes total. - Ports are plentiful (4 HDMI, with one being ARC), including optical for audio. - I enjoy the design and functionality of the remote. It has buttons that light up, which is very helpful in a dark room. The dedicated buttons for commonly used apps like Netflix, Prime, YouTube, and Disney+ are appreciated. - Most flat screen TVs are notorious for having poor audio. I found this TCL model to have the best audio I have come across. You'll still want a sound bar or other sound system if you want theater quality sound or if you enjoy listening to music on your TV. - The 4k resolution provides amazing visuals. I pulled up one of my favorite shows that has great landscape shots (Game of Thrones) and was in awe of how beautiful the picture quality was. There are a few preset video options that you can cycle through to find what you like best. And you can always adjust all picture settings (brightness, color, etc) individually if you like. Cons: - While many people hang their flat screen TVs on wall mounts, I usually prefer to have them set up on a stand in case I want to rearrange the room. The stand included with this TV doesn't seem to be of the best design. It's completely plastic and I have concerns for its long term durability under the weight of this TV. It's very heavy for a modern TV at ~77 pounds. Overall I am very happy with this 85" TCL smart TV and would certainly recommend it to folks that have large rooms and are looking for a gigantic screen.

I’ve been very impressed with this TV so far. The picture quality is outstanding, with deep blacks, bright highlights, and vibrant colors thanks to the Mini-LED display. Movies, sports, and gaming all look incredible on the 85-inch screen. Google TV is smooth and easy to navigate, and setup was quick and straightforward. For the price, it’s hard to find another TV that offers this level of performance and features. If you’re looking for a large-screen TV with excellent image quality and solid overall performance, I would definitely recommend this model.

We purchased this TV several months ago and love it! Our other TV's are OLED's, but we decided to try the TCL QM7L Mini LED after viewing it in the Best Buy show room and reading many reviews. It has excellent picture quality and super easy to set up.

I've just purchased a new sofa, and wanted to upgrade my TV as well to something bigger and something with sexier specs. I'm familiar with the TCL brand, as I'd previously owned a pair of wireless head phones by them. Those head phones ended up being the best pair I'd ever had. Looked nice, great range, lasted forever, clear audio for work calls. Far outlasted and outperformed the 'Tony' pair I had. 😊 So, although I'd had my eyes on a more well known expensive brand, the TV I was replacing was a Hisense, and that one is considered a 'budget' brand and it ended up being decent? After looking at the specs and videos online, I went ahead with the TCL. Not only was it much less expensive than the other one I looked at and at a third of the cost, but at the same size and with BETTER tech. I hadn't heard of 'SQD-Mini-LED' before, but it's basically a single backlight inside the screen with a super high-quality color filter instead of backlights that mix the colors. It's really beautiful to look at. I watch a lot of old cartoons, and they look soooo good on the screen! Colors are really vivid and the sound on this TV is by Bang and Olufsen - the acoustics are phenomenal. I work in an Orchestra concert hall, so I know good sound, and this company isn't just adding a bunch of bass, but are extremely detailed in perfecting the way the sound bounces off the walls and other surfaces in the room. No soundbar needed. I will say I was worried it would be too big when it first arrived. The box took up half of my living room, and I had to have my two Nieces who live with me help me set it up. I did the 65" on my own, but there was no way this TV could be set up by less than two people! The base is very very heavy, so be prepared for that. My living room is 12' x 20', and for a few days, I was thinking it was too large for our house but after a marathon of blockbuster action movies (Demolition Man and Rambo were AWESOME on this thing!) and a full series binge of The Handmaid's Tale, I am hooked on it. Can't go back. The girl's are getting some game time in as I write this review - They're having so much fun playing Super Mario Cart. In closing, I'm advising you not to get hung up on the brand name. The technology on this unit is surpassing anything out there in this price range and TCL is REALLY giving 'Sungsam' a run for the money in general! I very highly recommend and would absolutely buy from this brand again.

The Good: * Massive cinematic experience: An 85-inch screen completely changes the feel of movies, sports, and gaming. It creates a theater-like setup without needing to spend OLED-level money. * Outstanding brightness and HDR impact: This TV gets extremely bright, which makes HDR content stand out with strong highlights and vivid detail. Even in a well-lit room, the picture remains clear and colorful without looking faded. * Great contrast for a Mini-LED panel: The local dimming performs very well, producing deep blacks and strong contrast that give movies and games a more premium look than typical LED TVs. * Excellent for gaming: With support for 144Hz refresh rate, VRR, ALLM, and HDMI 2.1, this TV feels built for modern gaming. Gameplay feels smooth and responsive, and motion handling has been excellent in my testing. * Smooth and easy-to-use smart interface: Google TV runs quickly and includes all the major streaming apps. Navigation feels snappy, and voice controls work reliably. * Strong color performance: Colors look rich and vibrant while still appearing natural. Animated content and HDR movies especially benefit from the wide color range and brightness. The Bad (by no means actually bad, but relatively speaking): * Viewing angles could be better: Picture quality drops slightly when sitting far to the side, especially compared to higher-end OLED displays. * Audio is just ok: The built-in speakers are fine for everyday use, but this TV really benefits from pairing it with a dedicated audio system. * Minor blooming in dark scenes: You can occasionally notice slight halos around bright objects against black backgrounds, though it’s fairly controlled overall. Otherwise black levels are fantastic. Overall: This feels like one of the strongest big-screen TV values available right now. In everyday use, it delivers impressive brightness, strong gaming performance, and excellent contrast for the price category. If you want a huge 85-inch display with premium-style features without paying flagship OLED prices, the QM7L is an easy recommendation.

TCL 85" Class QM7L 4K HDR-Mini LED Smart TV with Google TV (2026) is breathtaking out of the box. The new HVA 2.0 PRO Panel has explosive clarity. I have to admit that the size alone overwhelmed me, but in a good way. I don’t particularly love the stand design, but you can't always get feet. TCL included Google TV, so I was able to scan the barcode with my phone, sync it with my existing Google account, and make setup a breeze. I like the remote, but the design was kind of plain. But hey, they included a Tubi button. I can't be mad at that. It's preloaded with popular streaming apps, so you don't need any add-on boxes or sticks to get your services up and running. And I got to tell you, when you look at the screen, the colors and their quality are impressive. It uses SQD Mini LED, which delivers vivid reds, sharp blues, and the darkest blacks I've seen on TV. The 4K UHD is awesome when playing my 4K Blu-rays; the picture is immersive, with high contrast and rich colors. I love that no seat where I have the TV placed is a bad seat, whether in front or on the sides; picture quality doesn't suffer. We have gamers in the house, the game mode is great, and with the four HDMI slots, you can plug in and game on. Two are 2.1 and two are 2.0. One is Arc Audio. The sound quality is also strong, thanks to Bang & Olufsen audio. But of course, I'm going to upgrade this with the sound bar and surround sound. I also love the integrated LAN port, although the Wi-Fi is great. Plugging straight into the router is ideal for uninterrupted streaming. If you're in the market for a feature-packed, very vivid home theater TV, this is definitely one that you want to check out.

Hello friends and welcome to my review of the new TCL 85" QM7 4k UHD smart tv. Thats a really long name so from now on I will just call it a TV or the new TCL. First of all the shipper did a poor job of communicating with me when the TV would be delivered. I got it about a week and half after it was supposed to be delivered. And when it was delivered it was standing on end in the truck and then laid down on it's face to be removed from the truck. Clearly stated on the box is do not lay on side or stand on end. I got lucky and the TV is ok currently, it appears TCL did a fine job of boxing this TV for shipping. The TV is a bit bigger than my 75" and it is so long one person can't balance it to move it around. So after removing from the box,I turned it on and it loaded up. Then after just a few seconds of set-up I was on my way. Google has updated their software a lot since the last time I used one of their smart TV's.This TV is very quick to load apps and live TV. I am impressed by the speed , it is on par with the fire stick now. Next I want to talk about the picture quality. The TCL came straight out of the box set to 100 percent brightness. Now if it is on display in the store, I can see that setting being near 100. However in a house that is super overkill on the brightness. I turned mine down to 58 and decreased the saturation a bit too. TCL does make it easy to tune this unit, most people will have no problem getting the display to look the way you like it. Just be aware that the brightness is set to max when you unbox this unit. Aside from that the p[picture is fantastic, And surprisingly clear at many different focal lengths. I can walk up and get within about a foot of the screen and can't see pixels. The mini LED's in this screen are really impressive for picture quality. This screen is getting real close to sony level p[icture quality and that's saying a LOT! The materials the screen uses are of much better quality than Insignia and some other off brand units. There is no distortion or waves on the screen as viewed from the side. Like I said before the screen quality is great. Color saturation is almost perfect even in bright light, or when there is a lot of sunshine in the room. This TV will work great in almost all rooms, it doesn't matter the lighting situation. If one has space on the wall then this will most likely work for you. I'm thoroughly impressed by how good this TV actually is, mind you it is big, really big, but really great too! If you are in the market for a giant 85inch monster TV this is a good choice. And yes i recommend this to family and friends!

The TCL 85” QM7L 4K Smart TV stands up to the competition. If you are going from a 65’ or smaller TV, keep in mind this unit is huge. It will take two people to move the box, unpack and setup. Relative to its size though it is not that heavy. Luckily, the stand has a single foot that is located in the center and this will allow a lot more flexibility than if there are dual feet on each side. Dual feet would require a lot bigger TV stand. Once you have it setup, the first thing is to connect it the internet. The initial update takes a while but this is good to optimize the streaming services. With Google TV built-in you can start using your favorite streaming services easily and no additional hardware is needed. The colors are excellent with the default settings. Vibrant colors look natural and black is fluid with no ghosting or bloom. Gaming optimization is what I really like about this unit. You get up to 144Hz refresh rates and this works perfect with gaming consoles or PCs. Keep in mind there are four HDMI ports and only two support high refresh rates. Once I connected my PlayStation 5 Pro it immediately recognized and switched to game mode. Details are gorgeous and the refresh keeps high intensity scenes clear and precise. Overall, this is a perfect TV for watching stream apps and gaming as well.

TCL - 85" Class QM7L Series 4K UHD HDR SQD-Mini LED Smart TV with Dolby Vision, IMAX expanded, Dolby Atmos, SQD MiniLED is awe inspiring. Packaging - Box was loaded with foam and plastic wrap to keep the screen from damage and scratches. TCL plans for folks having to use their hands to lift this TV which weighs right at 85 pounds and will take two people to left the box off the TV. We had 3 so one could actually help take the box off once we had it the majority of the way. Installation - Easy to mount on any wall, just measure and use the templates that come with the wall mount you choose, if using the base it will be a snap. Setup - Once installed - the TV wizard to setup the TV is easy peasy. Walk through the steps and you are watching TV in a very short time. Google TV - is a very robust and responsive TV operating system. I was able to select the apps I wanted to use during setup and then I was able to add a handful of other apps after setup without fail. Very quick and responsive, easy to navigate and a multitude of apps to choose from to meet your needs. Overall impression watching 4k content with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. I chose the IQ display setting and was amazed. I couldn't believe how immersive this screen feels during the movie. Then I switched to Disney+ and watched an IMAX enhanced movie, I was even more immersed into the scenes. IMAX enhanced mode fills more of your screen making the black bars at the top and bottom almost disappear. About a couple of inches from the top and bottom are black. Only a limited amount of movies have this capability at the moment. Hopefully others will use this feature as time goes on. Color and HDR saturation - on spot and makes the entire screen pop. Love watching those 8k and 12k videos you can find online, everything now seems so real and again very immersive. Colors come to life in fields of flowers, mountain ranges, rivers, Antarctica, etc. All I can say is AMAZING!!! I would highly recommend this TV to anyone who wants a more immersive experience. A great price, a great set of features and functionalities. The best thing about the TV that literally blew my mind is the backlit remote when I am watching a movie in a very dark room (man cave), I can reach for the remote and as soon as I touch it, it lights up. Genius, I haven't had a backlit remote for so long and especially one that is instant when touched even with my premium TVs since about 2015 era.
