Texas & Spooner Oldham - The Muscle Shoals Sessions - VINYL LP

Vinyl LP pressing including digital download. 2017 . Hot Thoughts, Spoon's ninth album, is the bravest, most sonically inventive work of their career, though keep in mind, Britt Daniel's already overseen a number of other reincarnations. With all due respect to earlier efforts that have made the quintet both critically acclaimed and a commercial contender, preconceptions about this band are about to be obliterated. That's not to say Hot Thoughts doesn't have a requisite supply of infectious earworms but there's a lyrical bent that's as carnal as it's crafty, and a newfound sense of sonic exploration that results in the genre-smasher Spoon have flirted with in the past but not fully consummated. Produced by Dave Fridmann (Tame Impala, The Flaming Lips, Weezer, MGMT) and back with Matador (third time's the charm) helps position Spoon to mount the highest highs of their already spectacular career. We are overjoyed to be back in the Spoon business and in time for Daniel's spot in the pantheon of rock's genius songwriters was well established a ways back - with the crackling, incandescent, multi-dimensional backdrop conjured on Hot Thoughts, the lines between accessible and experimental become non-factors for once and all. It's pop as high art, delivered with total confidence and focus. Album Tracks 1. Hot Thoughts 2. Whisperi'lllistentohearit 3. Do I Have to Talk You Into It 4. First Caress 5. Pink Up 6. Upon recording their seventh full length album Transference, Spoon did away with producers and decided to completely self-produce their record for the first time. The result was a more expansive and creatively spontaneous record that harkens back to the humble beginnings of the band's history while continuing to push their sound into more experimental spheres. Featuring singles InchWho Makes Your MoneyInch, InchWritten in ReverseInch and fan favorite InchGot NuffinInch, Transference is a fully unfiltered look at one of the most creative acts in modern music.1. Double vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Includes board game and digital download. 2020 . Pop on Floor It!!!, the second full-length effort from the Texas Gentlemen, and prepare your eardrums to be hit with everything from woozy, brass-fueled Dixieland-style jazz ('Veal Cutlass'), to slinky, chicken-scratch country funk ('Bare Maximum') to lushly orchestrated pop-soul balladry ('Ain't Nothin' New')'and that's all in just the first 10 minutes of play time. While the Gentlemen's sound is clearly steeped in the classic roots, rock and pop music of the '60s and '70s, there's a dreamy (the lilting 'Sing Me to Sleep'), spacey ('Skyway Streetcar') and occasionally progressive ('Dark at the End of the Tunnel') element to what they do that seems to detach the music from belonging to any particular place and time. Add in elements of funk, soul, country, r&b, southern rock, gospel and essentially any other style that catches their musically omnivorous ears; an expansive and detailed approach to arrangement that sees the songs adorned with all manner of horns, strings and heavenly background vocals ('Hard Road') and you have a collection of tunes that is more than just a mere album. Rather, Floor It!!! is a rich and righteous ride. Album Tracks 1. Veal Cutlass 2. Bare Maximum 3. Ain't Nothin' New 4. Train to Avesta 5. Easy St 6. Hard RD 7. Dark at the End of the Tunnel 8.
