It really is a great drama, but the one thing against it is, that it's 2 hours and 40 minutes long. Personally I like the movie, but you have to be a fan of great drama and willing to put in the work to appreciate this one.

Great film, well acted and beautiful cinematography. Just hoped that the remaster was better. Visuals are average and could be better.

This is a movie about Jesse James; his gang and the events that led up to his death. This movie uses a top shelf cast and they all do a very good job with the portrayals of their characters.

This is a beautiful movie that takes another aspect to the wild west. Instead of targeting primitive movie fans with short attention spans and a lust for action, this movie aims to please by cinematography, character development, and superb acting. Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck have as good of a performance as I've ever witnessed. Sam Rockwell also displays a solid performance. This movie spends the majority of its time letting you see an objective side to the lives of Jesse James and Bob Ford. Not just what the comics or newspapers propagandized. Both James and Ford were two highly complex individuals and this movie does a great job of portraying that. The movie gives each two distinct themes with the cinematography and soundtrack. I really felt connected with both characters as the movie was a dedication to them both. Instead of your typical western with off-the-wall gun fights, this movie takes a more realistic approach. And while the movie is developing its characters, the tension builds as the climax approaches. Although the movie takes about 2 and a half hours to get to the climax, I still didn't mind because I was still almost fooled that the inevitable couldn't happen. And even after the climax there is a continuation of the story which isn't hinted at in the title and makes the movie even more enjoyable. I recommend this film for those who enjoy great acting, cinematography, soundtracks, and a powerful connection with the characters of the movie.

First of all, the cinematography was impecable and flawless. It is a beautiful movie and it is as close and accurate as it could get to the real life legend Jesse James. Casey Affleck is remarkable as Robert Ford, you just love him playing the envious coward, he is perfect. The Academy Awards failed to reward this one, for I think it should of been nominated for Best Picture, Director and Screenplay for Andrew Dominik, and the ones that it did get Supporting Actor for Affleck and of course the cinematography which only lost to the equally masterful work of Robert Elswit for There Will Be Blood.

This is a great film, but don't go into it expecting an action movie. This is a lengthy movie with a lot of dialogue which really helps develop the characters. I highly recommend you set aside a few hours and give this one a watch!

Altho I am definitely a fan of Brad Pitt and Jeremy Renner, I am not that fond of Casey Affleck. I can't believe that he got an Academy Award noimnation for his wooden performance in this yawner. His dull, monotone voice really grated on me. This film was far too long and all the principle actors in this dredge seemed as bored as the audience. Knowing full well what the climax was, it was extremely diffucult to sit thru this trainwreck.
