The movie is great - engaging, well-acted and -written, high production value, etc (though it can be tough to watch at times, as their is violence against women and injustice). The special features were also fascinating. However, the upgrade to 4k wasn't as great as it could have been, as a few scenes were still grainy.

What can I say, I love the classics and this is definitely one of them. The book, of course, is superior, but this is a fantastic movie and it looks great on 4K disc.

You have not watched Color Purple until you see it in 4k. Awesome picture and sound. It has never looked better.

Its been years but watching this in 4k was like seeing it brand new. Good transfer and solid sound. Original artwork for the slipcover wouldve been nice.

Gorgeously filmed and beautifully performed. Whoopi Goldberg gives an Oscar worthy performance with equally brilliant contributions from Oprah Winfrey, Margaret Avery - heck, everyone gives stellar performances in front of and behind the camera. The 4K presentation is very filmic with light unobtrusive grain and perfectly rendered colors. This belongs in everyone’s library.

My favorite movie of all time ! The 1985 version with Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey.
