Produced by drummer Mitch Ayling and recorded live at Woods Lodge Studio, the album showcases the four lifelong friends' signature blend of classic soul, modern funk, and widescreen orchestration. Featuring singles 'I Need Your Love', 'A Time To Let Go', and 'The Middle', Borderlands has already received extensive airplay and critical acclaim, including support from BBC Radio 6 Music (Huey Morgan, Lauren Laverne), Jazz FM, Radio 2, and Radio X. The band's previous album Favourite Worry was named BBC 6 Music's Album of the Year, and their debut Tales From The Thames Delta reached the UK Top 40 and earned them Apple iTunes Band of the Year. Borderlands expands The Milk's trademark 'cinematic soul' sound with sweeping strings, full brass, and choral arrangements - mastered on vintage analogue equipment by Lewis Durham (Kitty, Daisy & Lewis). Early reviews have called it 'meticulously crafted' (Shindig), 'epic choral arrangements and widescreen orchestrations' (MOJO), and 'a fusion of 60s soul, modern funk and vintage soundtracks' (HiFi+). The band will support the album with a national tour including London's 229, Manchester's Band on the Wall, and Stroud's Subscription Rooms, alongside exclusive acoustic and listening shows. Debbie Harry was a household name back in the late 70's/early 80's through her work with Blondie. For her first solo album she teamed up with Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards of CHIC to produce an album fusing funk, rock, disco and new wave. Their innovative production pre-dated their work with David Bowie and Madonna. Released in 1981, KooKoo went on to be a gold-selling album selling half a million copies in America alone. The album contained two hit singles, 'Backfired' and 'The Jam Was Moving'. The iconic sleeve design by Swiss artist H.R. Giger, known for his work on the Alien movie, has been restored and represented here as a limited-edition lenticular sleeve design showing Debbie with and without Giger's art. The audio for this has been mastered from the original pre-production tapes and cut at Half-Speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. Their music is described as mostly melodic hard rock with progressive undertones.
