The Whistles & the Bells - The Whistles & The Bells - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The sophomore album from Kalbells, illustrates the formidable love Kalmia Traver discovered with her touring band turned bandmates. Together, Angelica Bess, Zoe Becher, Sarah Pedinotti and Traver, practice both listening and accountability, rejoicing in their queerness, and promoting each other to be their most genuine selves. The result is Max Heart-ten vibrant and subtly layered tracks of mesmerizing psychedelic synth-pop. Common groove language is a rare medicine to happen across, which is why, as a group, playing together has been not only exciting, but healing. Max Heart harnesses this magnetic power for a collection of songs that are packed with inspired tension and daring surreality.01 Red Marker02 Flute Windows Open In The Rain03 Purplepink04 Poppy Tree05 Hump The Beach06 Pickles07 Bubbles08 Big Lake09 Diagram of Me Sleeping10 Max Heart Album Tracks 1. THE WHIMBRELS are a power art-rock band with lineages to some of the most influential and raw music New York City has produced - loud art with a back beat. The sound is dense, rhythmic, hard and sweet, with hooks and riffs that pop out at unexpected moments. Their three-guitar lineup featuring ARAD EVANS (Glenn Branca Ensemble), NORMAN WESTBERG (Swans) and LUKE SCHWARTZ (Glenn Branca, Wharton Tiers), along with bassist/vocalist MATT HUNTER (Savak, Dusty Fates) and drummer STEVE DiBENEDETTO. The New York Times once placed Arad Evans on Inchan index of creative or experimental electric guitar-based music in America - young lords of the wild in the post-rock tradition.Inch That description fits The Whimbrels perfectly. You may need earplugs. Album Tracks 1. She Is the Leader 2. Monarchs 3. Distant Land 4. That's How It Was 5. Scream for Me 6. Eclipse Eye 7. Four Moons of Galileo

The sophomore offering by Julie Carpenter's textural orchestral entity Less Bells takes it's title from a storied strain of decorative objects worn in remembrance of lost loved ones Mourning Jewelry. The album shares a similar mood of devotional pageantry, stirring ornamental laments born from a need to Inchcreate beauty out of grief.Inch Utilizing an amalgam of strings, synthesizers, and choirs, the pieces ascend and descend in grand, glimmering arcs, ebbing from passages of Inchbaroque complexityInch to expanses of haunting emptiness. Certain songs also skew more overtly western than ever before, deeply reverbed plucks of banjo refracted against glowing horizons of sunrise drone Americana gone ambient.Furthering the music's mystic intentionality, the track titles comprise Inchthe major arcana of a tarot deck from an alternate universe,Inch lorded over by the InchQueen Of Crickets,Inch ruler of InchThe Gates,Inch InchThe Fault,Inch and InchThe Fang.Inch Even so, the record requires no psychic divination to glean it's fragile majesty, it's muted tumult of mirage and melody. The beauty it possesses is too blatant, and bountiful. Album Tracks 1. Brooch 2. Fiery Wings 3. The Gates 4. Queen of Crickets 5. The Fault 6. Plait 7. The Fang
