The return of a 20+ year old classic makes its way to the Nintendo Switch. If you're a old school fighting fan than you're well aware of this classic masterpieces pedigree. One of the rare fighters to hold its age over all these decades. This is basically the same Remix released on XBOX 360 several years ago with the new art style you can switch (no pun intended) back and forth with a simple button press from new school art work graphics to the old school 90's graphics. The new tunes are not as impressive and the original. Which is one of the reason I remain in the original presentation. This game is as awesome as ever. The biggest gripe I've read online all week is the price for a 20+ year old game. That I can understand. Should have been $29.99 IMO. Though if you're a Best Buy gamer club unlocked member you'll save with the 20% off at $31.99 after the discount. There's online multiplayer and two new characters released for the first time ever exclusively on the Switch. But all they're is a variant version of Ken & Ryu. There's a lot of other bonus materials like a art gallery and many more. I'm satisfied with revisiting a classic on my Nintendo Switch. I would recommend the Nintendo Pro controller. However, that $69.99 asking price may be asking for too much for some. This can still be played with the Joy-Cons nonetheless. Hope everyone enjoys the game.

Great throwback to the 90's! Characters are properly balanced. Online match making is smooth and quick. The only thing missing is voice chat. The inclusion of Violent Ken, Evil Ryu and Akuma makes Ultra Street Fighter 2 the best version. It's super fun and worth every dollar.

Evil Ryu, and, Violent Ken, now I can't stop playing with my new favorite characters. Hadōken!

I have fond memories playing Street Fighter II in the arcade and the Champion Edition on the Sega Genesis. I stopped paying attention to the Street Fighter II series after it was released again and again in the arcade and on home consoles. I felt like, as soon as I would finally get used to the new version, Capcom would come out with an even newer edition the next year. There was the original in 1991, Champion Edition in 1992, Turbo: Hyper Fighting in 1993, the Super version in 1994, Super Street Fighter II Turbo in 1995 (and 2000), Hyper Street Fighter II in 2003, and I'm sure there's a couple others that I'm forgetting. I couldn't keep up especially once the games switched over to the Saturn/Dreamcast, PlayStation/PS2, and Xbox. So this is a nice release for someone who stopped playing the games a while back and wants to catch up. 17 core characters (and 2 bonus characters) are in the roster, the music has been updated and remixed, and you hear the characters' Japanese voices from Street Fighter IV. The updated graphics are also nice. The game is playable in HD or in a classic, more pixelated mode that's has a 4:3 aspect ratio. I prefer the HD widescreen mode but switching to the pixelated mode is kinda fun as it's a reminder of how far games have come. The controls are smooth and fluid and the fighting is as fun and fast as ever. I like the Street Fighter IV series but I am more a fan of the classic, 2D style. The game runs at a smooth framerate and I didn't have any dropped frames in both portable and home console modes. Some people might have issues with the Joy-Con's D-pad and analog stick but I haven't had issues. Those with problems can always buy a Pro controller. There is a 2-on-1 cooperative mode added from the Alpha series and it's nice a addition. There is a new mode called "Way of the Hado" but the controls are awful and it's not very fun. My only complaint, really, is that Capcom is charging $40 for a game that is essentially a port of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix released 9 years ago. The Switch version looks and performs better and it has two more characters. But still, the underlying game was released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 9 years ago. Classic Street Fighter fans will appreciate this game. It represents the best of the older and newer series. The Switch handles the game well and it's nice being able to take the game anywhere to play. Some people might have issues with the controls but I thought they were fine. Had this been a $20 release, I would have given it a full five star rating. But it deserves to be knocked down because of the high price and how old the source port is.

Its still the same game after all these years. This is basically HD remix that was released on playstation and xbox almost ten years ago. The artwork is great, but the animations are a bit lacking. It's a bit jarring when you see crisp modern artwork with the same stiff animations from 30 years ago. The game is still fun, but there isn't much here if you're a single player. You basically have arcade mode and versus mode. That's it. Violent ken and Evil Ryu are cool additions, but nothing that warrants the price. Considering that street fighter anniversary collection is coming in may of 2018 with every street fighter from 1-3rd strike including the alpha games for the same price as this, this is not a bargain or a value for the money. The game is fun, it will hold me over until the anniversary collection comes out.

It's a great rendition to the classic super turbo game on SNES . If you're a fighting game enthusiast you can tell the changes in frames and moves however. The side game is a waste of time. Online fighting is good outside occasional lag but it is to be expected. The controls with the joy cons suck if you're precise with combos. I suggest using a controller with a dpad and you'll be having hours of fun! As far as matchmaking goes it can be hit or miss. Once more people but a switch and the game goes down in price I think there will be a thriving community.

It is Street Fighter, but it is Street Fighter with the option to play on your TV or on the road. The fighting was tight and visually looks very nice on TV or handheld mode. Online worked like a charm with no dips in match (at least the matches I was playing). There is the option for the Classic Style of graphics and sound if you are old school or for the Enhanced Style. There is a beautiful art gallery based off of hi-res scans of an out of print Street Fighter book but keep in mind, you cannot take screenshots! Way of the Hado mode is an extra mini game that has you playing with the joy cons wirelessly against Bison and his minions where you hurl Hadoken Fire balls and punch and kick in a 1st person mode. When it works, it works very well but depending on where my Switch was located it would sometimes not register my moves. You can change the sensitivity of each move which makes it better but I would say about 90% of the time it worked as I intended. As you progress, you can upgrade your characters speed and strength which makes it easier. It was fun and definitely gave my arms a work out but just know what you are getting into! (2) player vs. worked excellently with someone elses joycons or pro controller and the special (2) player vs. (1) computer was quite fun and frantic. Please note that both players share a life bar and there isn't a special ending - but still very fun. Arcade mode is a blast with every fighter getting their own ending and I will say it is the most fun I have had playing a Street Fighter game in years. If you love the old school, non-3D Street Fighting games and have Gamers Club, for all that you get and the gameplay modes included, it is definitely worth it.

So Capcom has put out yet another version of Street Fighter 2. This version is an evolution of the 2008 HD Remix version of the game though it's surprisingly different from that version. I personally prefer the visual options in this version over the visual options in the HD Remix. HD Remix allowed you to play the game with the HD visuals on in either zoomed in 16:9 or original 4:3 and in 4:3 mode you could swap the HD player sprites for the original player sprites (but you could not play with the original background sprites). In Ultra Street Fighter 2 your options are to play with the HD visuals in zoomed in 16:9 or play in 4:3 with all of the original visuals. I like to play on the TV with the original visuals and on the Switch screen with the HD visuals. Some negatives this version has: -Don't even bother playing Way of the Hado. it's awful. -No real dip switch-style options. Considering all the options HD Remix and Hyper Street Fighter 2 gave you this is kind of a big let down -Does not include any of the original arcade games attract intros -Limited soundtrack options. Your options are the original Super Turbo soundtrack and a new Capcom produced remix soundtrack. While the new remixes aren't terrible they aren't particularly great either. The fact that this doesn't include all of the soundtrack versions from Hyper or HD Remix is a big let down. -The HD visuals. While I would generally consider myself a defender of the HD visuals they do have some issues (some of which are new to this version). The most notable problems being that Akuma looks really weird, some stages look a little barren compared to the original and the new issue is that certain stage elements have been altered or don't move as they should (Ryu & Zangief's stages being the most notable examples) -No option to see the original endings, only the HD Remix endings -This game retains the Super Turbo issue of there being zero bonus stages in arcade mode -The end credits are real generic. If you can look past all of the above issues (and the $40 price tag) then this is a really good version of Street Fighter 2 that you can play on a modern platform and on the go. Having said that, I bought this for just shy of $30, so I'd only recommend this game if you can get it for less than $30 because it's still just SF2. If you do get this I would recommend picking up the Pokken Tournament controller as it almost feels like it was actually made with games like Street Fighter in mind.

It's a Street Fight game so I like it. It feels more like the street fight new challengers game since Feilong, T Hawk, DJ and the others are there and it got the same feel. But it does have evil ryu, evil ken and more. Theres a game where you can do hadouken and shoryuken using the joycon movements, really cool. It also has online game but I think you now need the switch online subscription for it. Great game. Capcom released another street fighter game for the switch with all or most of the previous street fighter games. I wish they just included everything here, but I think this is still worth it.

I grew up as a young lad with the street fighter series and dumped so many quarters into machines dominating at the arcades. This was a great trip down memory lane and is a great game to play with my kids and introduce them to a bit of my childhood. The addition of the new characters like Akuma, Evil Ryu, and Evil Ken are fun and using the super moves are a bit overpowering to an already unforgiving damage system. The Hado mode was a lot of fun and a bit annoying due to moves not registering correctly, but love the 2player mode of two players vs. one com at a time. You share a life bar with your teammate and have one life bar to take out two life bars for the enemy, so much fun.

I used to play Street Fighter II: Championship Edition on the Sega Genesis, so playing this on the Nintendo Switch is pretty awesome. It's a little weird playing it with the JoyCons since there isn't a directional pad. If you're wanting that, definitely get the Pro Controller. It's still playable though. Just takes some time getting used to it. I think the $40 is a bit much, but if you're part of the GCU, then you can get it for about $32.

I remember playing this game back in the 90's on Sega Genesis and Super NES. This version here is a complete throwback and even though Street Fighter 2 has been released about a thousand different times, this is the first one I've actually bought. I'm not a competitive fighter and frankly I'm not even good, but I can recommend this for anyone who does like fighters or I'd like me and wants to relive a little bit of that 16 bit style gaming. Oh and as a final note, you can switch between old and new graphics and all of the old and new music tracks are available to listen too.

Make no mistake. This is the best iteration of SFII on the market, but you wouldn't have known it by Capcom trying to cheapskate $40 out of fans for a game that's come out in multiple editions over the course of two-plus decades. I ended up buying it to support third parties on Switch and don't regret it, but this and the upcoming Revelations pack feel lazy from Capcom when companies like Bethesda (amazingly) are giving Nintendo much more modern worldwide support.

Awesome game for the Nintendo Switch. Price is a bit much for what’s included but it’s a portable street fighter on a Nintendo console so it’s expensive.

Ultra Street fighter 2 for the switch is a simple yet fun fighting game experience whether on the big screen or on the go via the portable switch tablet. The hd graphics are crystal clear 1080p on both the tv and the tablet and we're still given the choice to choose the graphics from the arcade style street fighter games of years past. The new characters are a bit unbalanced but the net code for this game makes for a fun and hassle free online experience. All and all, this is worthy buy for the switch.

It was what I expected. Using the joy con switch controllers made it difficult though but the gameplay overall was Pleasant.

Better graphics than the same game from the 90s. Brings back the old days. Good game but wish it was in the $20-$30 range.

Everyone knows street fighter II. It remains fun and looks good in this new format. With that said, it is a bit expensive even with the gamer discount at best buy. I use the d pad for fighting games, so the normal switch controller isn't great for pulling off some moves. The pro controller works well so i don't have an issue.

I loved the bonus stages on the old versions but guess what? They removed the bonus stages. This game has been upgraded in terms of sound, graphics, and butter smooth gameplay. Up to this date, online play is still free (april 20th 2018). The joycons are so painful to use, the pro controller is better but I'm waiting on a true joystick that's affordable or on sale to play this game. The pro controller is extremely responsive that for some new to videogames or not well experienced may cause problems, as you need to have "cat reflexes" to avoid or even perform some combos. Until they release the next street fighter collection, this game will keep you busy and for the old generations, this title is basically a pick up and play with free online versus matches. Recommended unless you don't like ports/remakes or if the price tag is too high for you

I bought this game to play with my girlfriend as she loved this game back in the day. Not being big on fighting games but enjoying fatal fury 2 for SNES I picked this up. This is probably the best fighting game I have played. Its quick and casual but there is a lit of depth with combos as well. The updated graphics are nice paired with the vintage sound.
