Alexander Gadjiev's album Legends takes listeners on a journey through the timeless legends and stories hidden within music, revealing it's power to conjure entire worlds. In Debussy's La cathedrale engloutie, ghostly bells rise from a submerged cathedral, bringing a Breton myth to life. Liszt's Funerailles rages with thunderous chords, evoking a battle against mortality, whilst Musorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition unfolds a vivid tapestry of Slavic folklore and European scenes. Prokofiev's Legende tells an enchanted tale of light and shadow, and Scriabin's Sonata No. 9 (Black Mass) immerses us in an eerie, otherworldly soundscape. Franck's Prelude, Fugue et Variation offers a sublime reflection on the soul's journey, while Bach-Siloti's Prelude in B minor resonates like a timeless, universal hymn. The Italian-Slovenian pianist has designed this programme to offer listeners a profound and mythical experience. Album Tracks 1. cathédrale engloutie (Préludes - Book I. No. 10) 2. Alexander Gadjiev writes InchThis is a special album that exclusively features brief pieces taken from short anthologies or collections. For me it's like a journey without a chronology I just wanted to choose an interesting itinerary. All these pieces seem to evoke a Inchdark meditationInch. Even in lively passages there is an underlying mood of brooding it is the atmosphere of the early 20th century and the cultural milieu of Symbolism. These are brief, abstract visions of different worlds. You can sense that a single chord or series of sounds could escalate to evoke an entire universe.Inch Album Tracks 1. 8 Sarcasms, Op. 17 2. 8 Pieces for Piano, Op. 88 3. 2 Preludes, Op. 85 Nos. 1 & 9 4. Quatre Préludes Nostalgiques, Op. 23 5. Visions Fugitives, Op. 22 (Selection) 6. Six Musical Illustrations to Alexander Pushkin's Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish, Op. 41
