About this product
This unusual creation from Jean-Baptiste Mersiol is a playful object combining the history of music and recording techniques with absurdities of all kinds. Initially conceived as a sort of blindfold test, this anthology has turned into more of a treatise on recording experiments carried out in the 40s and 50s... Featuring recordings both rare and forgotten, technical hitches and improbable duets, this album deserves a place on your shelves because it never fails to reveal the rare pearl that delights your friends over long winter evenings Album Tracks 1. Sheik of Araby 2. Que Reste-T-Il de Nos Amours? 3. Lover 4. Maman, Papa 5. Graine D'ananar 6. I Walk the Line 7. Petronio 8. Words of Love 9. Bamba [Mixage Stéréo] 10. Ah Quand Les Saints 11. Hardly anyone knows Damia today, a famous French singer and actress who is considered the model of later world stars such as Edith Piaf, Barbara or Juliette Greco. In her chansons, Damia almost exclusively sang the life that in her case had tragic elements, which is why she received the nickname Inchla tragedienne de la chansonInch (the tragic figure of the chanson). The singer was idolized between the world wars, but increasingly forgotten after the occupation of France by the Germans. InchDamia's story and her repertoire touched me very deeply. She had her own style and was the first 'Chanteuse realiste' in our country,Inch Elodie Lauton explained the motives for InchOriginis,Inch her second album after the much-respected crossover project InchTerminal B,Inch which she released in 2012 with the group Goldamour. For the homage to her idol Damia, Elodie assembled a number of outstanding European musicians. The result touches and goes directly to your heart. Chansons in her native language with this very special, subtly swinging jazz touch.
