Worked perfectly! I was able to convert all my VHS tapes to MP4 with no problem at all. ( Windows 10). I also appreciate the different modes, there’s easy mode, and there’s advanced mode.

This product works great for converting old vhs tapes to a digital mp4 files. The process is easy. Don’t let your memories fade away with time, instead preserve them for future generations to come.

It is frustrating the recording will STOP while the camcorder still running.

This is a great device, and the supplied software makes it a breeze to capture video. While the device is very similar to other video capture devices out there. The supplied software makes it easy to save your analog memories. The only MAJOR drawback is that it records all files in MPEG format by default. The only way to get your file to an MP4 format is to use the supplied software to convert it. While this isn't a deal breaker by any means, it just slows the process down a bit. Why can't we just select MP4 to begin with? It's beyond me. Overall, it's a great value!

This is an excellent program! I had one that was 18 yrs old and the software would not work with windows 11. I used it for 8 & HI 8 video cassettes, VHS tapes, phonograph records and audio cassettes. I have a higher end HP computer (also from Best Buy) with 32 gig of ram and dedicated video card that helped the efficiency of the program. I’m totally impressed with the program!

Works pretty well for moving old VHS tapes to a digital format. Having used many other methods of video transfer in the past, I needed a quick solution for a tape transfer. This is easy to use, the connections are easy to follow, and the transfers look about as good as they’re going to. It’s VHS, after all. The main downside is that you have to use their software for ingest. You can’t import directly to iMovie or Premiere. The device saves your files as mp4. There are no quality or resolution controls. What you get is what you get. Software has to be downloaded from the company website for Mac - doesn’t come in the box. As most Macs no longer have CD drives, this is no surprise, and not a deal-killer. You do need a serial number from the box in order to use the software however.

This product delivered exactly what I wanted - an easy to use method to transfer my thirty year old VHS tapes to a computer, thumb drive, or DVD. I was able to link my old combination VHS/DVD player to the computer, push the play button, and copy it to the computer. I was also able to edit the transferred footage with standard video editing programs such as Windows Video Editor.

Worked as intended and had clear directions included.

This probably isn't what this device was intended for, but I used it to record video from a twenty-year old analog underwater camera. The camera signal travels through a cable to a small TV screen (CRT) on the surface. The TV has an RCA VIDEO OUT jack but I didn't have any way to record the signal. I was able to use the VIDBOX to connect to the TV and it converted the live analog signal to digital. I was then able to record the live video directly to my laptop hard drive (Win 7). I can't comment on the editing software because I use Adobe Premier Elements for editing. It was an odd configuration but this little unit did the trick. My son used the video in his high school Marine Biology presentation. I haven't had time to do it yet, but I'm looking forward to using my VIDBOX to convert a batch of old analog videos I recorded nearly thirty years ago. So far, I'm very pleased with my little VIDBOX.

I bought this to save all our old Films from the childhood days and it works just as it says. but a weird quirk is that while your recording the video, the audio is being recorded from your speakers? i had to play the audio from my laptop speakers while my laptop Microphone records it?? its a little strange as i had to leave my laptop unattended and away from outside noise for 2-3 hours while it was recording. i am glad i bought it as my entire childhood is protected in Digital but its just a weird quirk.

This was really easy to setup and connect and it works great to get VHS footage into digital format. My only complaint is that there are no options to change the resolution or more editing options.

Buyer beware: you may have software issues on newer Windows builds (10). I was unsuccessful in transferring a tape on Windows 10 as the software kept freezing, despite running it in compatibility mode for earlier Windows releases. If you run this on prior Windows releases the software works as intended. I have seen other reviews that say it requires you to use your PC microphone and speakers. This is NOT true. It gives you the option to, but it also gives you the option to use the audio source directly from the video device connected to the converter box.

This product works well - the only catch is that it is not compatible with newer versions of Mac OS. I had to use an older computer to set up the software. Other than that, it is easy and efficient to use. For camcorders you need to buy an RCA cord and an S-video cord.

I gave it 5 stars because it does what it is supposed to do, and did so effectively. The audio was pretty well in sync with video. The software is uncomplicated, and the box is bus-powered (no AC adapter needed). I used it with my High Sierra iMac with good results. Accepts S-video and composite inputs (not HDMI). A file copied to a USB drive worked well in a Samsung recent model Blu-ray player. Make sure you've got the "NW07" version if you're installing on Mac. Both PC and Mac versions are in the box.

After looking at so many videos only about converters, I was so overwhelmed with the amount of steps needed just to transfer a video! I was a Best Buy looking for a cable and the sales rep brought me this instead. I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did! Transfer a total of 48 home videos from Hi8 to Digital and was able to share copies with my family. Love this product!!

I purchased this item so I could transfer my VHS tapes to digital format. This item gets that job done and has options for importing from other sources, such as camcorder, etc... Straight forward and pretty simple for even a novice. However, I found it to be somewhat limited and kind of clunky. (the capture abruptly crashed on a couple occasions, and I had to restart from the beginning.) If you're looking for a simple and cost-effective way to digitize your VHS and analog tapes, then this will fit the bill. NB: Clean the heads on your VCR before feeding it any tapes. My VCR ate my tape. I had to find a video on YouTube on how to open the VCR, manually rescue my tape, and clean the heads before resuming without a problem. It's not difficult for anyone with a technical background. But beware you'll likely have to deal with this issue if you haven't cleaned your VCR heads lately.

Love this product – I am not very tech savvy, but it was easy to use with exceptional customer service. I had to call several times and the representative, Justin, walked me through adding the drivers and explaining the different cords I needed to use for the VCR and my camcorder. I’m so excited. I’ve told several people about it and plan to share it with friends so they can convert their family videos as well. I only wish there was an opportunity to pause the recording instead of stopping it each time. If I can use it, anyone can!

I've used a handful of conversion cables and systems over the years. This one is by far the best in terms of core functionality. It's easy to hook up and use and the audio and video transfer quality are solid. The transfer software is super-basic. I use other programs to edit and output the final files after transfer, so I can't fairly comment on any editing options that come with the device. I just needed solid hardware, and this product delivered.

I had been looking and thinking for years what the best way to digitize old VHS and VHS C tapes would be - and then I stumbled across this at Best Buy and am very glad I tried it. It is as simple as downloading the app, plugging the VCR into the laptop, opening the app and pressing start. It records straight to a movie file that is easy to share send around. There is no need to try and digitize at a higher resolution through a different app, because coming from VHS the resolution is already limited.

I had been having trouble with other products getting them to work with Mac OS Sequoia when a Best Buy technologist recommended this product. It worked and is intuitive does the job well of converting my old VHS tapes to digital.
