As always these are the best mechanical hard drives you can get. My opinion based on using WD drives for many years. I currently personally have over 20 WD Blacks in use. 6 of which are these 1003EFX. This one I bought a couple days ago. I have been using 5 of these in RAID 0 in an X99 workstation for over 3 years with no issue using a correct Intel hardware RAID in the X99 UEFI. I wanted to get a 6th to utilize all 6 ports available for RAID. So I purchased this last one at my Best Buy Store to complete my 6TB super fast drive array. more cost effective then any SSD, and NO worry of electronic discharge to data loss. The system has a total of 9 Western Digital Hard Drives and 3 SSDs. 6 WD Black 1TB (RAID 0) 1 WD RED 4TB 1 WD Black 2TB 1 WD Blue 640GB 1WD SN750 EK NVMe SSD 1 Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB 1 Samsung 850 PRO SATA SSD Approx: 15TB of storage. I will post some images below of benchmarks with 1 drive, vs 6 in raid 0.

This particular hard drive worked fine but literately stopped working 30 days after I purchased it. This hard drive literately stopped working last morning, tried to return it to the manufacturer only so I get a false message that the warranty has been void despite that it is still under a 5 year warranty, plus I have not opened the hard drive at all. I never came accross a brand new hard drive that came defective, and this is the first time I had to deal with such thing. Hard drive is no longer being detected by my computer's BIOS and I had to go as far as testing the same hard drive on other computers, both internally and externally with the help of an external SATA to USB cable, but hard drive both gets undetected by their BIOS or if using a Windows PC, it will detect it as a hard drive with 0 MB of space in it. Beware of this hard drive! If you want to buy this particular hard drive model, good luck with your hard drive because it seems to me that this model will likely come defective. I highly suggest you do your research and look for similar complaints for the same hard drive model before you even take my word. As far as I can remember, this is the unluckiest hard drive purchase I ever had.

I wanted a SATA hard drive for data storage in a new PC that came with a 256 GB solid state drive... This Western Digital is fast, includes a large cache, and comes with a good warranty... Installation and preparation was a breeze... great drive for the money... I'm very pleased with it so far.

The fact that this drive is guaranteed for 5 years and is very quiet and fast, you can't beat this drive. Also, the price was reasonable.

I recently upgraded my desktop's storage with the WD BLACK Gaming 1TB Internal SATA Hard Drive, and I couldn't be happier with its performance. As an avid gamer, I needed a reliable and fast storage solution, and this drive delivered beyond expectations. Installing games and loading times are noticeably faster, and the 1TB capacity provides ample space for my gaming library. The drive's design is sleek and fits perfectly into my desktop setup. The WD BLACK's performance is rock-solid, and I haven't experienced any lag or slowdowns while gaming. If you're a serious gamer looking for power and performance, I highly recommend the WD BLACK Gaming 1TB Internal SATA Hard Drive to elevate your gaming experience to the next level!

I use SSD's as much as I can since they are reliable, fast, and resilient. However, for extra data storage or non-essential apps/games, I LOVE the WD Black series for storage. It's a fast drive, and more reliable than the WD Blue series. Great HDD.

I need to run statistical calculations on my workstation, which means running 24/7 for days. I decided to use Linux for these and the drive holds my Linux partition (original drive is still Windows). Drive is really well packed when it is shipped and comes with mounting screws and a really easy to understand set of installation instructions. I had no problems installing and formatting it. WD has a link to allow downloading a special version of Acronis if you are intending to replace one drive with another. I did not use that, but have used Acronis software in the past and it seemed to work fine. I specifically bought the black because I expect the computer will be running calculations a good deal of the time and am banking on the reputation for reliability of these drives.

This disk is great for data storage on high end systems. It’s fast and relatively quiet for a mechanical drive. So far I haven’t had any issues with lag when I play a game that is installed on this drive.

Honestly great for the price. For a HDD it has beeter speeds than most SSD that are twice the price. Just had to get a chord with it but that was like $4. Totally worth it if yoy need better speeds to play games like Starfield (i literally had to buy it for my computer to be able to handle that game) but don't have the money/space/time for a new SSD. Can't recommend this enough

During the covid-19 it is great to order online and get quality parts shipped to my home. My replacement hard drive arrived on time with no virus contact. My new hard drive gives me peace of mind and I placed my old drive into a secure fire safe as a backup. My new hard drive is running smooth and my computer is running like new again. I can relax now knowing that my Western Digital is protecting all of my data with that great 5 yr warranty at a great price and Best Buy makes it easy to purchase on their great website. Quality products and quality service at a great price that says it all.

My old HDD was 7 years old. The old HDD was producing the dreaded "click of death." Anything beyond the manufacturers warranty period and you risk losing valuable files. Recovery of files on a failed HDD is iffy at best. This 7200rpm drive comes with a 5 year limited warranty. The drive installs easily with no special tools or expertise required. The WD Black tested and reviewed performance and reliability compares favorably with NAS and Enterprise drives. A good value if you value what goes on your HDD (irreplaceable photos?).

My hard drive was dying rapidly. This new drive performs excellently, very fast, easy to install and format. Also easy to transfer and save every byte off my old drive. Price was excellent.

Old HDD was failing and needed a replacement fast! BB had one in stock at the store nearest me, went there, bought it, and came home with it- all within an hour. Transferring files from the old drive to the WD Black wasn't nearly as fast. When finished with all the file transfers, and running on the new HDD it seemed as if I was running on an SSD- it is that quiet and quick. I can rely on Best Buy for almost any item to be available when I need it- much better than waiting for days when ordering online.

Sadly, after several years of use my original hard drive developed multiple bad sectors and blocks, became sick and failed. With only 3 internal HDD manufacturers remaining, I found that the WD Black 1TB HDD would be the best replacement drive for my needs. With 1TB of storage and great transfer rates, this HDD really can't be beat for it's price and I recommend it for anyone that needs to replace their old hard drive or perhaps add a second internal drive for storage, etc.

Very dependable drive, quiet. Very reliable. Enough space to house several operating systems and data.

Looks great. Worked like a charm when I installed it. It did require finding appropriate software to move the WindowsOS and then quickly tweeking the BIOS to point to this drive. The Arconis software that you can download from the WD site was a disappointment. Ended up using EaseUS Patition Master which did the trick (clone a smaller drive to a bigger drive with an increased partition)

Love the speed and storage space. You can put a lot of games on this drive. Installation is a snap.
