I have a Freenas system with Eight 3TB drives from different drive manufacturers. A few from Toshiba, a few from HGST, a few from Hitachi, and a few from Western Digital. Since I brought the NAS up about 3 years ago, I have had 3 drives fail. None of the failed drives have been from Western Digital. I replaced every failed drive with a WD Red and have not had any problems with any WD drive in my system. I know that anecdotal evidence doesn't mean much because everyone has a favorite brand but that's just my experience. Western Digital Red drives perform very well and have been very reliable for me for years. I would recommend WD Red drives to anyone looking to build a NAS system.

I put 2x 3TB WD Red dives in a Synology DS215j. They've been up and running 24/7 for about 6 weeks. I ran the Check Disk in Windows as well as AVG's disk checking utility, and both drives are green across the board. Moving data to them can take quite awhile, but the transfer speeds were as expected. I moved files about 20GB at a time and validated each time. I've successfully streamed music, photos, and videos to my PC and smartphone without a hitch. I've had pretty good luck with hard drives from WD (8 drives in 10 years, only one showed problems and it took ~3 years), though to be fair it's been good with Seagate so far, too (2 drives with zero issues, a 3 month and a 5 year old). I hope to get 5+ years out of these.

I used a number of sites to compare information on hard drives for a small home server build. This drive from Western Digital met my size, price, energy use and reliability requirements perfectly. With the special that was running when I bought it the price was excellent too. Can't go wrong with one of these drives!

I have my media on these drives set up in a Raid configuration, i have purchased 4 of these drives in total and have had to issues to date. The first 2 were bought about 6 months ago, the last 2 a couple months ago, but just installed them a few weeks ago and still empty.

The NAS storage device was easy to install and worked as expected. Very quiet and hopefully reliable as most WD products are.

I've now got 2 of these drives running 24/7 in a MythTV server. They have been very reliable so far, and unlike the WD Green drive that preceded them there have been no issues so far. One of the drives has been in service for a year; the second for about a month. They run cool and quiet; speed is "good enough" for recording multiple shows at once and playing back others.

This drive was selected for a NAS and works quite well. It is VERY quiet and responsive. No issues so far, and since it is a NAS class drive, I expect years of problem free use. At $99 it was a "no-brainer" purchase. My only regret: I did not buy a few at that price.

Got this when I was setting my NAS at home. Cheaper than Amazon. Compatible with all types of NAS. Mine is synology and is working really great.

I recently bought a Qnap NAS and needed an Internal hard drive and got this prodcut. It was so easy to install and use it and don't have any issues until now and shipping was also quick even though they said it would take atleast 5-6 business days,

Purchased 2 of these for a nas cloud setup. Works great, speeds on the drives are excellent and most important they are quiet.

Good price. WD customer service has always been good. These red drives actually use different protocols for raid. Recommend over the other editions for raid.

I have these drives in my 2-bay NAS with RAID-1 configuration. It's been a month and half, so I can't say much but I haven't have any problems so far.

This is the one to use to max out (without reflashing your system) your TiVo Roamio. Quiet and endures the constant on.

I have had excellent performance with Western digital NAS hard drives so I purchased one more. No issues to date as expected

Needed a reliable HD to use on the family network. Selected WD from personal experience with their products and WD RED for how it will be used and extended warranty. After 2 weeks, which is not a long term indicator, there has been no issues.

This hard drive works flawlessly and was a perfect fit for my Dell computer. It was twice the thickness of the HD drive it replaced but it has three times the storage capacity as the OEM drive we were coming close to filling.
