Upgraded a 20 year old Yamaha RXV-3800 with this bad boy. Wow! All the best audio and video features one could ask for. The sound is incredible and it was a snap to set up. The convenience of the HDMI-ARC makes one touch to turn everybody on and one touch to turn everybody off. I am very pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend this receiver.

Got this when it first came out. Was aware that it would not have all the features for gaming that i bought it for. The firmware has been updated and has the feature i was waiting for. Solid well built unit easy to use. plenty of power for my magnapan speakers. Noticed it more expensive than when i bought it. Glad i puchased when i did.

I’ve had Yamaha receivers and integrated amplifiers since the early 1980s. They have always been reliable and a good value. For many years I felt I absolutely needed to get McIntosh equipment. But Yamaha is great without paying four times the price and moving McIntosh amps is the formula for a bad back. My current setup features Martin Logan 40i speakers up front, SVS SB1000 sub, and Definitive Audio bipolars for the rear. I also use Kimber Kable to biwire the front speakers and upgraded the power cable with Audioquest NRG-Y3. I bought the A6A to upgrade from the A4A I purchased during the pandemic. Having listened to both, the A6A does tighten up the bass a bit, and there are a few more settings. The bass improvement is evident in Pure Direct mode for music. YPAO setup is same as A4A. Airplay feature is a little quicker than the A4A and is crisp. I won’t get too wordy but will offer this assessment. Buy this if you need more channels than the A4A or need more voltage for the preamp out. My main use is for music. Both receivers are great but the prices are significantly different. Look for the sale for Best Buy Plus customers.

Great receiver, I’ve had for over 2yrs, I have a 7.2 setup, I’m planning to add on a zone for backyard patio 2 speaker maybe 4 speakers. I have a cable box, DVD player, PS5, PS4, Wii, fire stick 4k all displayed on 96in tv

Loving this receiver so far. I upgraded from the A4a for the additional channels, power and sound processing capabilities. Didn't want to spend the extra money at first, but Im glad I upgraded. This receiver was sold out everywhere I was looking but final found one with Bestbuy.

I have to say this was one of the easiest AV receiver to set up . I love the clean look . It's well built , good quality all around . I upgraded from a 5300 ES sony AV receiver. This Yamaha has more power and cleaner sound.

I usually buy Marantz but I needed a balanced output for my Parasound amp and only Yamaha Aventage RX A6A and A8A have this feature so I didn't have much choice. I bought the system after all the HDMI 2.1 features were fixed so no complaints there. eARC works great and no HDMI 2.1 issues at all. The setup was easy and the sound is good I do think I prefer the Marantz. Set up features are amazing it has a web interface no more fumbling around on the screen using your remote to set up the receiver. Cons: having some odd Center channel sounds every so often almost like a vibration in the sound. Also, have an issue where you cant set Pure mode per source I use it when I am listing to my steamer and want to bypass the subs so I have to turn it on and off each time I listen to music and then switch back to movies. Also having an issue with pure mode using my center channel when listing to music usually it's just the fronts and the subs. This may be the surround AI feature. Also, I don't like how limited the amp setting are when I choose 7.2.2 with an external front amp I cant also choose to have an additional external amp setting it still allows you to use the preouts though. Overall great system but its overpriced like everything else these days, if it wasn't for the balanced inputs I would have probably made do with my Marantz or waited for the newer Marantz receivers to go on sale.

This was an upgrade to a Yamaha v685. I was researching a couple including this one, Marantz, Denon and Pioneer. I really liked my v685 so I wanted to stay with Yamaha. When you look thru the top of both recievers you can tell this has a ton of upgraded components compared to the moon Aventage line. My set up : 2x Kef Q750 2x Kef Q350 1x Kef Q650 2x Kef Q12 Audioquest Rocket 33 cables There are no cons so let me highlight some of the positives that aren't obvious from the specs. +The auto calibration is way better than before. Music playback especially sounds fantastic and you don't hear any rattle from the speakers or subwoofers. It calibrates it perfect for your room. +Surround AI makes everything sound great. I don't use the Dolby or DTS options (your can't with Surround AI on) +The power upgrade (80w on the v685 to 150w on the A6A per channel) is very noticeable. When you have it at least -20db or higher your can tell a big difference. It is hard to explain but the technology mixed with added power allows certain parts of songs to really stay strong. +Changing hdmi inputs is way faster. You don't realize how much you'll appreciate this. +Many options that involve the codacs or other features to improve the sound, that are also noticable. I'm trying to keep this short but here's the bottom line.... If you have good speakers, you'll notice the difference. If you have small speakers that were part of say a Klipsch bundle ($999, I have several of these sets) then this isn't for you.

I was planning to upgrade my $300 Samsung sound bar to a 5.1 speaker system. To say I was overwhelmed with all the choices, is an understatement. I did my research and looked at all the options. One of the features that drew me to this receiver is it's ability to run HDMI 2.1 on all it's connectors. Currently it is the only one I found to have this feature. Since this purchase will be one I will need to live with for many years, I wanted to make sure it is the right one. Visiting this product's webpage, it checks all the marks for features most people need (unless you plan to have 11.1 system with every imaginable bell and whistle). To be honest, however, there are only so many features the average person will need for their enjoyment. This receiver has more than enough power to support the wide range of speakers out there. It also has many of the key codecs out there, such as ATMOS, to immerse you in your movie experience. It will likely be another year (2022) until other companies catch up to include HDMI 2.1 on all their inputs. But to include that feature and all the other features this receiver has, those other companies will likely charge a premium of 1.5x or 2x the price of these receivers. My advice is to do your research and figure out 1) how many speakers you plan to install, 2) how much power they need to run, 3) which sound setup you plan to use (5.1 vs 7.1 vs ATMOS), and 4) your price range you're willing to invest. Just remember, a superior sound system does not have to be the most expensive.

This receiver was an upgrade from the a4a, for more power and better DAC (upgraded dac for the main channels, the same as the a4a for the presence or atmos channels). Setup was a breeze, easier if you have any experience with your way around a receiver. Denon setup possibly just a tad more explanatory. Great sound, spacious sound, great separation from the channels. Easy to navigate and responsive menu. Looks cool on and off, and it’s heavy. Remote could use some work for buttons but the backlight is a nice touch. Yamaha really needs to make an app to assist in setup though. Like most if not all in the Yamaha family, changing zones and hdmi output are also simple with the remote (denon deal breaker for me). Loud and proud, clean and clear this receiver will have your family covering their ears while you decide if the night modes are necessary!

The RX-A6A receiver build feels rock-solid. The unit is very heavy. I'm still just scratching the surface learning all of its features, but initial setup was clear and straight forward. Using an iPad for the MusicCast app and to access the setup features is highly recommended, and makes everything much easier.

Best receiver yet.Replaces my Denon x6500h. About the same power and close to the same setup. Love the lit remote and plays well with other components. 8 senses to switch between operations from cable, to streaming , to listening to music thru airplay. I bought to amplify my front speakers and offers balanced ports for quiet hook up. This receiver has less bugs than my Denon and works well after a few adjustments and minor setup. Works better than the reviews I seen and Ive had it set up a working flawless now for the last 6 weeks without a glitch. Not my first reciever , so it only took me an hour to run YPAO to setup the speakers . It may take a new comer longer but the manuel is on line and you can upload Web Controler on your computer and thru WiFi , set up all your Sense to turn on the same way everytime the way you set it up to work. Works great ….

An excellent receiver with a sturdy build quality. Its heavy showing off its strength. Music and audio quality is great and I am still exploring the device. The user interface could have been better but still neat and clean.

When paired with the DefTech BiPolar speakers in a 5.2.4 system, this receiver creates a dome of theatrical escape. The initial setup took a bit of love to get dialed in. But, once you hit that magic zone of completely enveloped in immersive detail via Atmos or Aura 3D, you are hooked. NowI have enjoyed other brands And models, but to me, the A6A ticks every mark in actual performance. The 4K 120 allows the gamers in the fam to be wowed with the latest Xbox and PS4, and the 8K chops have me covered for the future. But, for this home theater fanatic, it is all about that genuine environmental finesse that somehow puts Yamaha over the top. There is no way to describe the feeling of being in the scene as opposed to viewing it. This my friends, you must experience for yourself. Honestly, I feel one of the biggest factors for a home theater such as mine. I’m not overpowering a less powerful receiver to get that big sound. I am simply dialing in the correct receiver for my level of detail. The power is simply there in spades. Of course this is not for everyone. Budgets are budgets. But, I am so happy I invested in one that will be with me for several years.

The unit has great sound. This is the first Yamaha receiver I've owned where a guest remarked at the spectacular sound. Beyond that I've been disappointed. The remote is ridiculous with no direct access to the individual input sources! (You can use the Musiccast app after several clicks). Then the front panel display has been reduced to a barely informative small panel. They've taken away front panel access to hook up a temporary source. There is limited ability to re-assign sound inputs to video. There is only one component video input. And then there is the weird AI function which optimizes sound profile continuously depending on content, I turned it off since I don't want some AI's opinion of how it should sound best. I suspect BS. And finally, the Spotify interface is very nice but sometimes seems to require a full reset despite using a wired network interface. The remote is the most vexing.
