I always purchase the total Geek Squad protection as I find it more than worth the extra money. I can't say how many times I've needed them if only for explanation on how to do something specific. Also I have returned a tv and when they did not have the same model, they still replaced it with a better model

What I think is going on here is that your GSP before was what we called Geek Squad Protect and Support Plus. This basically gave you hardware and software coverage. This plan is no longer active or offered. In its place, you now have the two separate options of the hardware and/or software protection. You technically can purchase the tune up by itself but Total Tech Support will cover it. I hope this helps and makes sense. Please let us know if you have any further questions!
