This is completely dependent on what software you use to write. The argument that it's internet cloud save dependent isn't valid 100% since you can always save files on the computer with it's limited 16GB hard drive or insert an SD card to save files on that. But if you prefer using Microsoft Office, then I would not. If you are comfortable with Google docs, then this is great. But just a head's up, not sure if you know this or not, but it's Chrome Browser dependent. Meaning, when you install an app, all it is, is like a bookmark on the browser. Battery life is amazing and portability is bar none great.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It would be a fine tool for writing. Google Docs would be more than adequate and you'll never have to worry about losing your work.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Absolutely - being in College, the main purpose I purchased this Chromebook was for a comfortable and accurate keyboard. Not too big or too small - the just the right pressure feedback on the keys. Remember - there is no delete key on Chromebooks (that is where the power button is). However, just as I did with my Google Nexus 7, clever use of the Backspace button takes care of that problem. This is, indeed, a writer's Chromebook!
