Skype is not, to my knowledge, fully supported on Chromebook. You are better off using Google Hangouts to videochat (which works well). That being said, this isn't the most powerful chromebook. It sounds like you are looking for a more powerful model.

It has great speed of course depending on you wifi speed. My girls use it for PowerPoint, research, and their favorite games and apps. It has a great picture and sound. I was hesitant at first being I had no experience with one. I feel as if I need one now. I have always been loyal to Apple. However this is a very good Product as well.
