Yes, the clamp will work with a 1/2 inch thick desk. The desk clamp supports desktop thickness from 10mm to 80mm, which is about 0.39" to 3.1". Since 1/2 inch is about 12.7mm, it is within the supported range. For best stability, please make sure the desk surface is flat, sturdy, and has enough edge space for the clamp to grip securely. If your desktop is very thin or made of delicate material, we recommend using the included protective pad or an additional reinforcement plate to help distribute the pressure.
