Does this work with frontier DSL? null

Yes, I have Frontier. The online set up instructions include phone numbers for all major carriers including Frontier, and exactly what to say when contacting them. The Frontier help desk were excellent.

It doesn't matter what type of internet you have. This is a router, not a modem. A modem gets you online with your provider, a router simply shares the connection among many devices. You will need to have a standalone modem. If you have a modem/router combo from your provider, you can turn the routing and firewall off, and use it as just a modem. Usually this feature is called "Bridge Mode" in newer combos.
