The outdoor sensor should not be exposed to rain, I have mine near a north facing window behind some bushes. I use a wood 'tomato stake' with a pan head screw on the side near the top, the sensor has a clip that slips over the screw head. Avoid direct sun, and furnace / dryer exhaust vents.
