My Amana washing machine did the same thing. It worked normally for a while then, stopped filling w/ water & only made the draining sound. Where the water lines/hoses connect to the washing machine, there are 'built-in' filters / strainers in the connection point. The filters are easily seen, once the water hoses are disconnected. TURN THE WATER SPIGOTS OFF before you disconnect hoses from washer..DUH I checked each side of my water supply, to be sure I was actually getting water from both hot & cold side. My filters were clogged w/ sand. I used an old tooth brush & water to clean them. I reconnected the hoses, turned water on & the washer worked perfectly.. 1 year later, washer is still working fine. We were in a drought so, maybe our 250' deep well was lower than we realized
