If you run the machine on "auto sensing/normal (which is what I use always, I love that setting) the machine is just clicking and agitating (computer sizing) the load weight and size. This setting allows for the machine to do the work and the on and off sound when it first starts to wash is normal, let it run its cycle all the way thru, if your opening and closing the lid the machine is not finishing its cycle. I have answered many questions here today under "carol" to try and help people, my recommendation is read the manual how to use and go from there. the auto sensing I had trouble with too, but once I mastered what that was all about I love this machine.
