One thing I forgot to mention. The larger echo just has a better speaker and that is the only difference between them. We have 1 echo and 3 echo dots. They all preform the exact same tasks. So if on a tight budget, stick with the dot.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Absolutely, this would help her. We have 4 of them throughout the house and we have them paired with our DirecTV, TV, surround sound, Apple TV, Amazon fire stick, a Harmony remote, and multiple Phillips hue lights. There are also many things we don't have that it also can be paired with to control like, the garage opener, door locks and security cameras. All of these things I listed can be controlled simply by speaking. The echo can also make phone calls and be used as an intercom system in your house. It can also call other echos that are not in the same house. The echo will also act as a personal assistant. For example: You can ask it to set a timer, enter things into your calendar, keep a shopping list, keep a to-do list, find and speak recipes to you, play music and radio stations. These are just a few of the things we use it for but, there are so many other things you can set it up to do. In all honesty, I think these devices would be a godsend to a person who is paralyzed. My grandfather was paralyzed from the chest down the last 20 years of his life and I can only wish that these were available for him at that time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sorry to hear about your aunt:-( The sound of the Echo is amazing so if she likes music and has an Amazon Prime account where she can access a ton of music to listen to, I'd go with the regular Echo. The Echo Dot has a good sound for a smaller device--I have both and have been blown away with the sound of the regular Echo. Plus either of them work great with smart devices--like smart plugs to turn off/on lamps, TVs, etc. There are a ton of skills that you can enable to hear the news/weather/interesting facts, etc.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. So sorry to hear about your aunt. Certainly this item would be helpful for her for interaction, telling her about current events, music, podcasts so she can keep up w her interests and can also make calls for eh Alexa app and other amazon Alexa products. She should benefit from this item quite a bit. And certainly for the price, it’s definitrly something she should try.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If she can speak ok and has no mental impairments and has patents then, yes. There are wall plug extensions that you can get that will allow her to turn on lights, answer the doorbell, etc. The Patents Part is because a lot of Alexa's world runs with just the Right words and nothing else. I would say, because of the Price Point, that you should give it a try. I would recomend the Echo Dot along with the portable holder rather than the full canister Echo. Cheaper and portable. Hope I have helped!
