you need wifi, so if your home is wired you should be ok. helps to have an android tablet to sych with.

I use mine to: - listen to music (works best with an external speaker, but can work on its own here too) - get news updates - get the weather - connect to my home automation lighting devices (I use TP Link devices, which only require a 2.4GHz wifi network in the house and don't need any special home wiring, hubs, etc). - general wikipedia lookups and questions
