• There are no required services. If you have Amazon prime you can buy things using it and play music. But you don't have to.

• None so far. I have amazon prime but friends I know that have purchased it doesn't and theirs still work. So far anything I download as far as skills for Echo to learn is all free.

• There might not be any based on what you're trying to do with it. I have Amazon Prime subscription which helps for prime music. But free services like Pandora or iHeartRadio or TuneIn works seamlessly. I also have Lifx bulbs to control using voice but again that's depending on what you're trying to accomplish.
