A:Answeri'm assuming you mean you got an Echo Dot. It is capable of operating any Alexa enabled device including, lights, plugs, thermostats etc.. You have to make sure the device is Alexa compatible or can be plugged in to an Alexa compatible smart plug. You can also ask it questions like a search engine i.e. what the weather, who won the giants game, recipe for apple pie etc. You can set alarms, timers, reminders for important events, make calls etc. There is a lot that it can do. That's what makes it a smart speaker. A blue tooth speaker just connects to another blue tooth audio device and plays sound from that device. Oh by the way the Echo Dot can do that too!!
A:AnswerYes if its a smart bulb or the lamp is connected to a smart plug. I have two lamps connected to smart plugs and a smart bulb, you just have to add the "devices" to your account and name them "Red light" and then just ask alexa to turn off or on. you can even set a routine where it turns on red light at a certain time always or turns off
A:AnswerIf you have a power source for it in your car and a network hot spot to connect it to (i.e. cellphone) then yes. they also make a device specifically for the car. I think its called the echo input,
A:AnswerNo you don't need to purchase control set up. I think thats to have Best Buy set up the device for you. You can do it yourself pretty easy. Then you voice control it to operate Alexa enabled devices, ask questions, check your schedule, create shopping list etc.
A:Answeryes you can control volume with voice commands and if the external speaker is connected to the do it will control its volume since it is the source of audio.
A:Answerdepends on how you created the playlist. If you created the playlist in your Amazon music app on the iPad, then yes. If you created the playlist in Apple Music, then no, but you can spend time exporting your playlist from one to the other, with the limitation that not all the songs will play as intended.
A:Answeryes two echo dots can "paired" to get stereo sound. Not sure how big your great room is, but you can add extra dots to a speaker group i Alexa and have them all synchronized to play the same sound. They don't even have to be in the same room. You won't get stereo sound ( left and right channels) but mono sounds better for small speakers anyway.
A:AnswerYes an app must be installed as part of the set routine. You don't need to use the app afterwards though, unless you are changing, adding, deleting, devices or routines or trouble shooting.
